What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Did the dealership install yours? I'm asking because Toyota's kit specifically calls for the wiring to be run to the passenger door. That way it only operates when all doors do. So if you're only using the driver's side most of the time, the tailgate remains locked like the other 3 doors.

Well... it has seats for the driver & front passenger.

But I know you meant rear jump seats. It does not have those. No fixtures to mount them either.
Makes for easier flat-floor-mod.
Also makes it nice when a group of us from work go out to lunch = "Someone else will have to drive, I only have room for one other". Thus, I'm never the chauffeur.

There is a program option to unlock on 1click or 2 clicks for the passenger door. On that note, when did they start having the passenger side touch sensor to lock/ unlock the doors?

 

2020 has them on the passenger door. I don't even use a key fob anymore. One of the guys on here showed me a lexus key card and I leave that in my phone/wallet and I never leave home without it now.

 

Uhh, yeah! Driving is just way more fun with it. It also depends on your financial situation of course. I don't have any bills except a mortgage so it's all play money to me!

This ^^^ is most likely the reason. That and changing the settings. If it’s wired to the drivers door, those settings I don’t think will work for the tailgate. The wear and tear is going to be negligible. Never really have heard of solenoids going out on the locks so I don’t think that’s really a concern even over time. I’m sure it can happen but it’s certainly not a known issue. With that said I have mine set to double press to unlock the everything.
