It’s all good man. I am not trying to offend. I’m happy you like your Tacoma. It’s just a melting pot of people to share opinions. If we did not discuss or disagree life would be bland. And I have been ranting like a MF so there is that!

I had a 78 F-150 Ranger back in the day when Ranger was a trim package with a 460 big block that my dad made me sell because he said I was gonna kill myself in it. That was a beast. And really I just want to keep this shit show going into Friday!

I paid $800 for mine and it held no oil pressure. I beat the hell out of it and could not kill it then sold it for $1,200 and offered the guy $2,000 to buy it back a year later and he laughed at me.

I was looking at getting another '79 for nostalgia and I can't find one under $10k now. Everything is fucked.

Dude, no shit. I get random notes on my 86 C10. I have invested a lot in that but the money all those old trucks are bringing is crazy. You can get a 60’s muscle car cheaper now than a 70s or 80s pickup

My '20 Taco has about 7k miles on it, and I get a call once a month from my local dealer wanting to buy it back for more than I paid for it in '19.

My standing offer has been: straight swap, 1794 Tundra with a a lifetime powertrain warranty for my tacoma.

They won't go for it, pussies.

    # of Chevy bow-tie bois who are gonna buy a 4G taco = 0
    # of Toyota Taco bois who are gonna buy a new Colorado = 0

Like death, and taxes………..these things can be counted on.

unlike the tacoma where you have to go to home depot, buy a pool noodle and install it yourself to reduce road noise between the bed and cab, i read the new colorado comes standard with one. :boink:

the real game changer with any manufacturer and the use of a 4 cylinder turbo in a truck will be longevity and fuel mileage. from what little i know, longevity or need for repair (vs. non-turbo) may be a toss-up, and fuel mileage appears to be slightly better with more low-end torque. regardless, that is where we are headed and i would wait a year or two before buying one.

In reality there is no way to answer that. You will either get a bunch of anecdotes about how "my ford broke down once, piece of shit" or you will get a (*cough sponsored cough) website that aggregates the complaint statistics and ranks them.

    For example: :cookiemonster::cookiemonster::cookiemonster::cookiemonster::cookiemonster::cookiemonster:

    upload_2022-7-29_7-21-39.jpg

Carmax/Repairpal lists the Tacoma as the most reliable, the Tundra as the least. Take that with a huuuuge grain of salt, CR lists the Tacoma in the middle of the pack and crowns the Ranger as the most reliable, whereas US News called the Tacoma "the least reliable, one step below the Gladiator," and thinks we should all be buying Tundras instead.

It's all :jerkoff::jerkoff::jerkoff::jerkoff:, all of it. A big stinking pile of horseshit to funnel clicks to my site and not theirs, and generate outrage amongst the forums to funnel more clicks.

Heres the ugly naked truth: it doesn't matter. No matter what you buy, it will always carry a small risk of the motor exploding, and a moderate risk of a futzy radio or a clunky differential. No brand is bulletproof, and no brand is a deathtrap. No matter what your wife's cousin's uncle said about his Jeep that almost killed him. Roll the dice with whatever you feel like, because when you zoom the scale to look at the volumes of cars that are trouble free, suddenly the differences of which one is "more reliable" doesn't look so significant.

As someone who has only owned Toyota trucks for the past 40 years (6 trucks in all); this truck looks amazing and it’s the first “non-Toyota” that has caught my attention to maybe change. It will be interesting to see how the 2024 Tacoma compares.

Lack of extended cab long bed option - I'll never buy one. Most trails in my region are too far away for a day-trip, so camping is required. I need the ability to sleep in the bed with a bed tent.

Are these new GM trucks related and co-developed by Isuzu as in the prior version?
