It's the aluminum frame, run-of-the-mill fork (but still good), aluminum rims and tires that are narrower than came on the Stache, (3.0" tires might not work well on those 30mm rims, if you wanted to put it closer to stock). No dropper. I think that is a little high, maybe $2400?

I loved my Stache when I had it, but it was the 9.8 carbon with a Pike and 3.0" tires, dropper, GX Eagle, carbon bars. I think I sold it for less than that in similar condition. But that was before the C-word came along. It looks like a solid bike, though.

 

So for some perspective, Trek is selling the New Stache frame for $1200, the wheels are Carbon and selling for nearly $1000 for the set, the fork is also close to $1000. That’s $3000 right there. From what I hear with the stache, carbon wheels are a must, especially in the rear as the stock wheels are prone to popping spokes.

Ah, I didn't catch that those were carbon wheels. And you can fit 2.6" on there. I've shared my thoughts on this before, but 60% of MSRP is what I shoot for on used stuff. MSRP on that bike with all components is probably around $4k, maybe a little less. 60% of $4K is $2400. That's where I'd start, anyway, and see how much he moves. But, I'm also a cheap bastard.

 

i thought fox moved to step cast or grip2 dampers and rhythm was on the lower end of their forks? not saying its bad, just not top of the line.

im not super familiar with wheel performances either, so cant help much there.

this is all used stuff too, not new.

the guy looks to have a few listing on pink bike also, so he seems like a reputable seller

at the end of the day its your call though.

We paused halfway through the Ride at @TheToddFather domicle for a Coors Latte break


The remainder of the ride it felt as if I ate the can in addition to sucking down the frosty sport soda..

Dropped in on a spicy little bonus line that thankful @MaddChadd cleared some weeds the night prior. Somehow everyone made it down unscathed. We hit the road back to Pedal and Pints. Where we enjoyed some Beverages. Pizza, Wings etc....

If they won’t warranty it, I’d definitely find a reputable shop to tig weld it.

 

For what it's worth there is no way I'd pay $3k for a Trek hardtail. You're approaching boutique brand used price territory. I do agree on buying a hardtail though - I ride difficult terrain on mine just as much as my full squish

I’ll add that not all carbon wheels are created equal.

I had a pair of Enve carbon wheels that were wayyyyyy to stiff for my type of riding. When I switched to WeAreOne Unions, they were much more compliant and had a much better ride feel.

I can’t comment on the Bontrager wheels so maybe read some reviews?

 

Just a dumb ebike stat from the last week at Kanuga. There was another day of 10 miles and 2k feet. Its not chest beating or anything like that, but for a park like that you get so much riding in.

Personally that’s a bit high…I paid like $1200 I think for my stache 7 with white industries hubs laced to Easton arc 45 rims. Those wheels alone are close to a thousand…given I think I got a really good deal. Between the current market and the fact that the stache is an amazing bike that they stopped selling MAYBE it’s worth a small premium but not that much.

i sold my 2014 remedy 7 with a similar setup (stock Bontrager wheels, not pro) in 2020 for like $1800

 

Well guys I was having issues with my shifting on my gravel bike rockin GX eagle AXS derailleur l…since I started waxing The chain I have a two chain rotation, just sized up the new chain and it seems to be shifting way better already…we will see if that was the issue haha. B-tension was way different with the first chain.

 

Anyone have any experience removing and installing headset cups? Especially sans special tools? Planning to install an angle headset and debating between shop install and home install and potentially buying some tools. Looks like some workable options on Amazon for a decent price so may just go that route.

 

Yep. All the way around. I have almost 3k miles on this specialized diverge base bike. Had it for almost 2 years. Just doing road cycling. No off roading or gravel riding.

On the day it happened, I was 7 miles into a ride and the bike was feeling little funny. I can feel it flexing….then went over a little hill and it just popped. Surprised I didn’t fall off.

I was so worried that specialized would tell me to go pound sand….but they came thru. I had the specialized diverge base alloy.
they sent me a specialized diverge pro carbon as a replacement. Full carbon and with the future shock in the stem. And I like the opening in the frame to put a jacket or something like that.

 

Have you checked for chain stretch? You shouldn't have to adjust the B screw between chains unless one is pretty worn.

I rotate through three waxed chains on my Eagle AXS gravel bike with no issues.

Are they both Sram? I had an XT chain on there that didn't work well with a Sram chainring.
