Even if no one dies I still don’t want a house fire. Do you?

    62 people died.

From 1998 - 2019 the least amount of people to die annually in a fatal bus crash was 230.

Ford Exploders are much safer than traveling by bus

Doubling down on FUD that has been proven to not occur at statistically relevant rates is unnecessarily rigid. I can’t argue irrational FUD.

I’m out here arguing with one person who is such a boomer that they won’t won’t charge their phone in their house and another person arguing some gas company FUD about EV fires that don’t actually happen.

    We’re doomed.

See, I don’t view electric vehicles as the future, I see them as an alternative in heavily congested urban areas, and what works in Europe where people don’t drive nowhere near as much as Americans do shouldn’t even remotely be considered a template for how things are here.

You can search this very forum and find at least one Tacoma that has burned up and burned some of the house.

Don't forget that ICE vehicles still have an electrical system which can short out. Plugging in a block heater can start a fire. Etc.

Id like to see some solid stats that show that EVs are significantly worse than ICE in burning down houses. The amount of cars that burn houses down is extremely small. It's a concern, for sure, but not something I'd lose sleep over.

Not to mention these things are still in relative infancy. You'd hope that with each generation they become safer.

You are much, much, much more likely to die in an accident while driving your car than you are for your car to burn you to death or burn your house down.

I tried to find some quick stats but cam up empty handed but I'm willing to bet you're more likely to lose your house from an electrical fire than you are from a car fire. Though I suppose an argument can be made that adding extra power and circuits to facilitate an EV may increase your risk.

Incandescent light bulbs were discontinued because the manufacturer knew millennials would stand too close under them and ignite their man buns a blaze.

I'm sure that sounded really clever in your head.

I know that the Internet might be scary so I found some incandescent bulbs for you.

So we should abandon the whole idea? What about in the near future when the range of an EV compares, or exceeds, an ICE vehicle?

You're right that Europe may not be a good template but you can definitely use some ideas. America isn't that unique.

the anti EV group is similar to the anti pewpew group

you can draw similarities between the two anti this anti that groups

but whatever, some rather be divided

Last time I towed it was a uhaul with my old Jetta on it. Not often but that's somewhere in the 4k load range.

    ...

I'll stick with my PHEV. It's all academic, anyway, pretty sure I'm not getting another vehicle for another 10 years anyway.

You can also just add them to existing infrastructure. Like..... I don't know... Gas stations? Parking lots?

Also if you ever want to remove them it's not a environmental issue. In my town, right now, they are ecavating the lot where a gas station was to check soil contamination. When they're done they will fill it back in and it will sit, unnocupied, for another few years. What a waste of land.

There is no anti EV group. Not even at an industrial level as all conventional manufacturers are producing, or developing EVs.

Someone who might not want an EV, isn't part of some nonexistent movement.

IT's a false narrative, as with most orgs or movements labeled anti.

Name one anti organization who's agenda is the thing they claim to be against.

You don't even need to go down that rabbit hole to show it's EV marketing that suggests that their are individuals who support an anti EV agenda.
