Depends where you live, if you garage your truck, annual rainfall, tonneau cover, etc.

Worry about something else, like the current cost of a steak.

 

Make sure you order the correct size (long bed or short bed).

 

No issues in Oregon at freeway speeds. I can not speak about car washes or high wind conditions in the Midwest.

Save a couple bucks. Not $83 anymore but definitely cheaper.

 

For those concerned about it; (I have no bed mat yet) I have the factory tonneau cover which is almost never removed, I park in the garage, and water has maybe seen the inside of the bed twice. I still have a little corrosion on the bed bolts. It's going to happen no matter what if you live in an area where it's an issue, I think.

 

The Toyota OEM bed matt was one of my first purchases for the taco. Zero regrets. Thick rubber, nothing slides around, softer on the items in the bed

FYI I just tried it and the free shipping code didn't work for me. Ended up $165 with the price increase and shipping.

 

Excuse the nitpick, but the cover likely makes the problem similar to a bed mat by trapping moisture in the bed that gets in there through the numerous cracks and holes in the bed (unless sealed). Whenever I go wheeling in wet conditions I get all sorts of crud coming into the bed. My boat also suffers if I put the top on when there is moisture inside.

 

I am using the mat you are currently thinking about purchasing. So far I don't have any issues with the bolts rusting up.

 

Worked for me on Wednesday. Not for the bed met, but other things. I don't know.

 

What if you have a decked system? I guess technically this would work, but you would have gaps at the cutouts.

 

I have a tonneau cover, but recently took the mat out to wash all the dirt and other crap from it and vacuum the remaining junk from the bed itself. After more than 2 years my bed surface under the mat looks brand new...all bolts look like just installed. On the other hand, can't say the same for my tailgate surface

 

As far as mats, Gator makes a good one. Saw it on a buddies tacoma...i think he said he bought it for under $100 with free shipping....well this was 2-3 years ago.

You shouldn't worry about whether or not rust will occur. It's a Taco. Rest assured most everything is virtually guaranteed to rust
