I know 4 people with 2nd gen ZR2s. Three are over 150,000 trouble free miles, and one is at 230,000 miles. That guy (230K miles) replaced an alternator & water pump. Other than that, nothing other than routine maintenance. I should also add that all 4 trucks are relatively stock, aside from fender trimming for 33s, one has a transmission tune, and other minor mods, but nothing crazy. All have had a transmission flush at some point; one did have the shudder but nothing after the trans flush.

Lol Toyota being competitive? Never gonna happen.

"You'll buy our reliability and deal with the crappy numbers and performance otherwise like a cult"

(I have a turd gen and enjoy it, but I'm self aware about it  )

I looked at all the mid sized trucks before I got my Taco. GM with their V6 motor got the worst gas mileage of them all. it was way worse then the Taco !!!

For me and the point I was trying to make was this. I still like Toyota trucks. Have driven them for years. I was the guy waiving the displacement flag and was totally anti turbo and all that. Happily driving my Tacoma as a daily until my kids got a little older. They started wanting to take moms car because they hatted the truck. I climbed in the back and was like: well fuck this! I realized that it got the same mileage as my 2010 Silverado with a 5.3 and that it felt clumsy and I found myself making excuses for it when it really didn't haul anything well. It did not really do well around town and was not fun to drive. My kids wanted USB ports and gadgets like moms car. So I took a step back and went and drove some other stuff. Being a long time bowtie guy at heart actually put all the trash I perpetuated aside and just drove one. My expectation was I would get back and be like oh this is a total POS but found the truck did everything well. It's quick, I set the CC at 83 and it comes over the mountains and you don't even feel it shift, it does this averaging 29 MPG with 19-20 around town. It feels light and fun and handles awesome. I can haul whatever I want. It has all the gadgets, it connects to my phone and plays whatever I have it set to on whatever streaming app I have pulled up. It has enough room in the backseat that a grown person can ride in it comfortably. It has LED bed lighting and tiedowns that work and a step in the bumper and well would you look at that, that's right where a hand hold should be to climb into the bed. And wait if I push this button on the remote the tailgate comes down and well shit. That is handy AF! And all the things that just make things easy and this is not the ultimately packaged truck. Its the custom package that list for around $52k. For my needs and this point in my life it just flat out does it all better and is a hell of a lot more fun. Now, down the road will it breakdown? I don't know and to be honest I really do not care. It has a warranty. If I find it has excessive issues between now and then I can always trade or sell it. Hell, might just get another one. Now, it might not be the best choice for you and that is fine. All I am saying is that the majority actually do what I do with a truck. Use as a daily, haul some shit on the weekends and throw the wife and kids in to get dinner or catch a game. The occasional trip that's a few hours away where you need the bed. Get groceries and so on. And for that and the absolute fun it is to drive. Do yourself a favor and just drive one. It might just make you not care about what could go wrong or how much it will be worth when you are done with it. There is some value in enjoying the ride.

Look, I GET IT! I WAS YOU!! I talked so much shit about why in the hell would you EVER put a 2.7 turbo in a Silverado crew cab truck and still expect to get north of $50k for it. I CALLED PEOPLE DRIVING THEM AN IDIOT! And then I fucking drove it. Now, to be clear it has to be a 2021 or newer but the package they have now. Holy shit! It is the most fun daily driver I have EVER had. All around. It NEVER feels underpowered. Now, might it blow up on the way home. Sure, it might. Who knows. But if that package or combo is in that Colorado just give it a chance. DRIVE IT. The longest road trip I have taken the truck on was 1,900 miles done in less than 36 hours. Coming across the Rockies included. Full-size, crew cab, 4x4 with the cruise control set on 83MPH for most of that trip on 87 octane and it averaged 24 MPG over those 1,900 miles with stints averaging 29MPG. It obtained this while never feeling underpowered or slow. Never searched for gears. I came over the Rockies with a cross wind and didn't feel it shift. Just drive it.

Yeah bummer, love my ACLB…but could make a DCSB work. Only thing that wouldn’t fit is my EZUP…which that thing is a pain anyway. Tow a trailer every time I camp so gear storage isn’t an issue…should upgrade to a 270° awning and get rid of that gawd awful EZUP.

Have a feeling that Toyota is going to kill the Access Cab for ‘24. Hopefully they don’t discontinue the DCLB, though at that point I’ll just upgrade to a full-size, even though I said I could make a DCSB work, doesn’t mean I want to.

I think it is fine, it isn’t the transmission shifting erratically, it is the cruise control trying to maintain speed and an efficient rpm.

Imagine a world where the machine just performed and you did not have to make excuses for it. You move from point A to B and get out and never once think "I wish it didn't do that" or "if they changed this". You were free to use that equipment to do what you intended and it did and you thought about anything else in your life.

Toyota it's not only a brand, it's also a cult.

Talk to anyone about Toyota, even start the conversation that you have a POS Toyota. and everyone will say how reliable Toyotas are, or they know so&so with over a million miles on their Toyota.

Brand loyalty is dumb. For example ford made the DCT trash the same time they made the 5.0. Both ford. Chevy made the 8 speed shit show at the same time as the 5.3. Both Chevy. Ford made the 5.4 tick monster at the same time as the 3.5. Both ford.

Brand loyalty is dumb. Toyota makes good and bad. Ford makes good and bad. Chevy makes good and bad. Dodge makes bad. Honda makes good and bad.

Buy what fits your bill and drives right.

But someone on here posted that GM vehicles are crap because they saw an HHR (a vehicle that was made from 2006-2011) with a faulty taillight...;)

Surprised the "upgrade" to the trail boss actually downgrades the front end to plastic, no fogs, and halogen headlights. Maybe it can be optioned out, though.

Works well enough for me. Don’t really see what all the crying is all about.

That said the Chevys do look really good!

I wonder when pix of the new Canyon are going to come out. I think the current Canyon is better looking than the current Colorado.

People aren’t spending money on reflashes and regearing because it’s fine. It just isn’t a great pairing with the 3.5, getting into and staying into 6th shouldn’t be this much work.

Mine doesn’t do that. Fairly mountainous here in Idaho, pulls the passes like nothing. Have been driving manuals for the past 40 years, this auto short shifts far better than me. Cruising on the byways here speed varies from 55-65, stays below 2000 rpm, has plenty of low end grunt to do that too. Don’t why some people have such problems. Guys who like to blast 90 mph down the interstate will probably hate it. Not really what the truck was built for though.

I am really impressed with this truck, heavier and more powerful than my 1st Gen, and consistently getting 5-7 mpgs better too. Sure it has it flaws, but do think a lot of it is blown way out of proportion.
