Odometer are miles on the vehicle, not the engine.

Agree, and some people don’t think anything of just letting an engine idle for long periods to keep the AC or heater on. You can buy a low mileage vehicle with lots of hours on the engine

Makes you wonder what the salvage company paid for the wrecked truck? Selling parts piecemeal like that…. Engine, transmission, transfer case, and all of the other undamaged parts….. sounds like a very nice return on the investment.

    IMO that's a very wise idea, basically to @Taco Tyrant it's $1700 for a new engine installed..who wouldn't ?

Or service vehicles such as police cars, no doubt. My wife runs her Rav4 for a few minutes every morning, I just start up and go (slowly on cold days so I let the oil circulate)

For $1700 you start back at zero on the engine and gain 4-5 more years of life out of that truck. Sounds like an awesome deal.

The shop said 12K to install a new engine.

A girl at my old job had a remote start on her car, she could go to a window and start the car before breaks and lunch, she also got to work over 1/2 hour early every day. We added it up, her car idled over 2 hours per day every day just at work. :der::der:

To each thine own I guess but I don't get it. Even if I had a remote start I'd never use it except on a freezing temp day just to melt some of the ice off the windows..maybe..

This was during the last time gasoline prices went over $4/gallon, it didn't change her habits one bit. :der:

Even in my college years when fuel was under $1 a gallon I still didn't do that, at least not expect the rare occasion.

They don’t sell a crate motor. Small block with old components installed was $12k just $1700 more..

Definitely a wise move, have a lawyer look at it quick before the final yay/nay

Always not a bad idea to have a lawyer looking out for your interests. They have them so you should too.

Op, which cylinder actually cracked? I see it's on an end of a bank. The reason I ask. My 2020 with 16k miles just developed a misfire. Took it to Toyota. The #6 cylinder failed the leak down test.
