I think landing on "batteries are so untrustworthy that I refuse to charge my phone while I sleep" is potentially worse. But I'm happy to call it a tie. :duh:

I've posted a lot more than he has in this thread so it was rather easy to rehash the points I'd already made 30 times. ;)

Repeated bad faith arguments don't warrant address. Especially when the talking points are literally the same and ignore any and all available information. I'm not here debating the validity of EVs, I'm pointing out lazy halfass arguments and logical fallacies.

What a great example of willful ignorance.

Honestly, the effort expended wouldn't even be worth it. Like arguing with flat earthers.

Steam is the future. Boilers powered by electric and valves controlled by computers. We left steam power a few years back because ...beats the shit outta me?

I’m willfully ignorant? I’m not anti EV. I’m just a realist that admits EVs have problems. There’s people here trying to claim that there is no fear of fires with EVs even though Chevy just had a massive recall of their Bolts due to fires and told their owners not to park in their garages. Now there is a big recall of the Mustang Mach E due to overheated batteries. Does that sound like there should be no concern about fires?

A friend of mine took delivery of an R1T a couple of weeks ago. The thing is insanely fast. Kinda neat how it has drift mode and the suspension can either raise up or slam down.

Except that there’s not been injuries or deaths. This is what we mean by FUD.

For example the 3rd gen Tacoma currently has a recall for an improperly welded rear child safety seat. What you’re doing is the equivalent of me coming in here saying “see, Toyota trucks are unsafe, they’re literally out here risking childrens lives. Would you put your kid in a truck????”

It sounds rational on the face but it isn’t actually. Recalls happen. Defects happen. ICE vehicles have been around a hell of a lot longer and we still have recalls on them. It isn’t a technical maturity thing, it’s a reality thing.

Data from NHTSA shows you’re less likely to have a fire in an EV. That’s just the simple fact regardless of any recall or anecdote.

That’s just idiotic. Do you think it’s a fun time losing a house or vehicle to a fire as long as no one dies. Come on man. That’s just stupid.

And crashes are another story. These are a few recent near me. My brother worked with one of the guys who burned to death in his car. Took 4 hours to put the fire out.

Had a Rivian come up behind me on the highway last night. Early evening, not completely dark, those goofy ass vertical oval daytime running lights are distracting as shit in your mirror.

Shit happens. Sometimes you crash and die, one of the risks when driving on a road full of idiots in 5000lb machines. It's not a risk with a high enough likelihood for me to worry about at all.
