Bought my 2006 trd off road recently, and the tire pressure light wont turn off. The tires, including the spare are at the proper psi but the light wont turn off when i try to reset it. Did the sensor go bad? What can i do?

Does it blink first and then stay on solid?

It constantly blinks pretty fast. Then if i hold down the tire pressure reset button the blinking slows down for three blinks, and then resumes its normal speed. Never turns off...

Most likely 1 or more sensors have failed, most tire shops should have the tooling to test the sensors and replace and program new ones.

Sensors typically last 7-10 years. But some last longer. The ones in my 2007 were still working after 14 years when I proactively replaced them when I had my last set of tires mounted. New ones were $20 each on Amazon. I ordered new sensors beforehand and Discount Tire charged me nothing extra to install and program the new ones along with mounting the new tires. Most places will charge $10-$15 to install them if you're not getting new tires anyway.

FYI, you'll need a 5th one for the spare on that model.

I have no sensors in my tires and mine blinks then goes solid.

Today while I was sound proofing the roof I found the tps control box attached to the roof.
I unplugged it and removed the box, can’t believe the dam light is still on.

    Mine does the same thing.
Blinks then stays on. Been that way for years.

You can get the light to go off if you search.
There is a DIY out there. I think on this forum too.

This is one of those ninny devices demanded by government "safety experts". IF a tire blows out like the old Ford Explorers being run on low pressure with defective Bridgestone tires (cost Ford a fortune) - it killed a lot of people out of pure ignorance. So the ninny device was Federally mandated - there's even a big fine if a pro shop deliberately deletes it. They are allowed to leave it in warning mode - just can't turn it off.

My wife had one of those Explorers and we never had the problem - I check tires at every fuel stop and once a week on hers as general principle. Ford contacted her by recall letter and arranged to replace all of the Bridgestone tires.

If memory serves me, Ford recommended lower pressures to ensure a 'soft and comfortable' ride.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Ford put the blame on Firestone when the reality was it was a bad vehicle design.

"During the post-recall period, April 1, 2002 through December 31, 2007, there were 285 deaths in 232 reported, tire-related, Ford Explorer crashes recorded in the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). This total exceeded that for all other comparison utility vehicles combined, which accounted for 275 tire-related deaths during this period." https://www.safetyresearch.net/tire...=– Ford may have won the,to be the real loser.
There were more rollover deaths in Explorers after the tire recall than before. We can all blame Ford and their high paid lawyers for that little annoying light.

My batteries died in mine. I just recently got new nittos and i told the tire shop to put regular valve stems in. And i put black tape over the sensor light in the dash. Fairly easy to remove cluster
