Could be one of those literally worthless 2WD 2nd gens. At least a 2WD 3rd gen has a 3.4.

My cat tried eating me because I smelled like kfc

Here's how it played out, I'm heating up a chicken sandwich, it was too cold so i wiped my fingers on my pants and sat back down, my cat come from wherever she hides, hops onto the couch, sniffs my pants, begins to bite like she means to kill... knows no chill

It's really more the 2nd gen, like the only time I met him he only had colorful things to say about the 2nd gen 4 runner, specifically

I can understand not liking the 2nd gen runner in comparison to the 3rd. The 3rd gen had better engine options and has much better aftermarket support suspension wise and parts wise.

The 2nd gen really has nothing going for it except you can get them cheap.

The 3.0 is just trash. If you see an 88-95 Toyota pickup rolling around it’s got the 22RE or an owner willing to keep dropping 3.0s in.

You literally just don’t see 2nd gen 4Runners because most of them came with the 3.0. I actually like how they look and that they’re less common than a 3rd gen. But I sure wouldn’t rebuild/drop a 3.0 back in one.

What sucks now too is people think they’re “rare” and picking them up non-running for $500 isn’t a thing anymore. The only rare 2nd gen is a two door.

There are more 2nd Gen 4Rs here than anything else. Bunch of cheap bastards

Will even see 1st Gen Tundra's or old Sequoia's on spacer lifts.

Why would my truck be making a lot more noise for the first maybe 30 seconds of acceleration after "cold" starting (most days it's 100°+ in Sac)? It sounds like a fan or maybe a pump. No rattling, just a lot more wind noise or something. It reminds me of sitting near the back of a rear engine commuter bus.

I live in a neighborhood and about 300 feet from my court is a stop sign. It's loud accelerating to the stop sign, then back to normal accelerating away from the sign.

Oh, and it gets louder with RPM, not wheelspeed.

I'm not too concerned if it's the fan clutch or something, but it it's some kind of oil temp/pressure thing, I'd like to know.

Sounds like the roar of the fan clutch after a cold start. Normal

Dude, comparing the worn out 4cyl same time period motor... how can you NOT hate the 3.0? Totally a POS in my mind having experienced 3 separate ones.

Shit with the appropriate machining work you can get a 3rz to go from 2.7L to 2.95L which might well be the 3.0L... but waaaaaaayyyy more reliable (if the past 30k miles on my 2.95 3rz is any indication)
