I have the same 3rz. I have the same noise issue. (Where you say "like sitting in the back of a commuter bus) in m experience, it's a condition of intake noise. Do you have an aftermarket air intake? Those increase intake noise.

If not, then the insulation of the floor and firewall+under dash area is worn out and needs replaced.

After changing a bunch of stuff us having the throttle body rebuilt, more sound dampening "kinda" cured it

The Korean family next door (that run a Chinese/Japanese, sushi/teriyaki restaurant) import both Japanese beer AND bottled water

The 'owners' of the place drive Lexus, but all the hourly employed relatives drive Hyundai lol

Ya know, saying this, and boring those sleeves out as close as humanly possible to the water jackets.... I love that my 4 cyl has the same displacement as some 6cyls. There was something just soooo satisfying as ringing, then pushing in pistons the same of small dinner plates lol

Yup had to get used to this with my green fan clutch. It’s so much louder than the orange.

I noticed with the increase from 1.0kw to the 1.4kw starter options for my engine, it got sooooo much louder starting.

I'll need to look into seeing if the 3rz had a fan upgrade option

Yeah similar story here. I had e-fans on my truck for the first couple years, PO installed them. They were quiet as a whisper, until one day they failed (wiring harness caught fire, that was fun).

Got an OEM fan clutch installed in its place and the first time I drove it after that, the sound of it caught me way off guard, sounded like a semi came up right behind me

I wouldn't say it lasts for 30 seconds though like he did, more like 5 - 10 maybe at most

Ya know...... rereading my posts, makes me need to set the record straight.

I hate the 3vfe motor. With a deep and firey passion I hate that motor.... however one of my 2 2nd gen 4R blew a headgasket (only way I could keep it running in temp range was completely pull the thermostat). Sold it to a buddy when I noticed the oil started turning choco milky.. he drove it for another almost 20k miles with it only getting worse. Never missed a beat and kept on running till we did a 3.4 swap into it.

granted i think it only lasted so well cause he checked his fluid every single time he started it.. and him doing weekly oil changes (with used lawnmower engine oil cause we got it free from work lol)

    You gotta be kidding me!

Speaking of water. I was at a church for a baptism last week. First time to a church in at least 20 years. They had what looked to be hand sanitizer dispensers when you walk in the seating area. I started hittin em up to clean hands. Realized I was cleaning my hands w holy water. That shit is very moisturizing!

They had a holy water dispenser? Haha

I guess that makes sense in today's world, when I grew up the holy water was in a giant bowl that everyone dipped their hands into. I don't care how holy that shit is pretending to be, that's nasty

Yeah right! That’s what I thought. I’m still mad I didn’t take a pic. It had a “Holy water” sign but I hit it from the side so didn’t see it till later. But, yeah, def 2022 style.
