Thanks for the post, I watched the whole thing, very informative! Glad I have been changing my oil every 6 months since I bought my truck.

I just changed my oil in my car... No idea how many miles were on it... Came out blacker than night... Good for another year

This is a never ending debate with no definitive answer. So far, I haven't missed a meal or mortgage payment buying oil on my schedule. But this man makes sense. 10,000 miles is way too long unless you dump your cars early. I am in for the long haul. Regards

Nah. I put less than 10k on it a year, so it easier for me to do it annually than track miles. 230k and no issues yet doing that... It will be fine.

    You say that...
Yet all the high mileage guys, including the million mile Tundra, all change at 10 or even 15K.
    I don't buy it.

I think stars need to be aligned for 10k mile oil change to have fucked up results like that's shown in the video:
    • bad engine design tendency to cause sludges, 2AR-FE
    • severe operating condition
    • crap oil or incorrect oil
    • filter failure ("some" dealerships and quick oil shops like to skip filter change or not properly install filters). wrong filter, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/no-oil-filter.748693/ no filter
CCN recommend 5k oil change just in case any of those conditions were to happen, it wouldn't get to a point of FUBAR

    Oh look, another mod....
Here's how I feel about it (not that anyone asked)....It's my truck, so I'll have the oil changed when I want. When you make the truck payment for me, then you can dictate when I should get it serviced.

I won't tell you how to maintain or upgrade your truck. Hopefully you think the same way that I do!

No problems. Everyone can choose without judgement. I choose 10K.
    Others will choose 5K.
    A few will chĂłose 3K.
    All are correct.
