Air bags or sumo springs if your truck is stock height.

Sumo springs would probably be a good option.

A sagging suspension is a visual cue that you're overloaded. You can modify the truck to sit level, but it is still overloaded.

Payload on these trucks is pitiful. Around 1000-1200 is typical, but some are under 1000. Your cap is at least 200. Put another 400 in the bed along with a driver and passenger and you may be at, or over the limits of your truck. Not counting any other gear/tools etc. that stay in the truck.

Your best option may be a bigger truck.

OP is stating hes putting all of 400 lbs in the bed, and its saggin, hes likely just got worn out stock springs and even with a driver and cap he wouldnt be over the rated payload. Sumo springs or airbags would definitely help in a great way.

While im not debating the pitiful on the books in writing payload capacity of the 2nd gens (want something even worse look at the tundra vs the f150), they can handle quite a bit more without issue (from a braking or acceleration perspective) if suspension is proper. Hell just today, 110gall of water - 917lbs - were in the bed of my truck and it was sitting level thanks to the OME dakar springs out back. Hardley knew the weight was there coming home.

Could the springs on a '13 (67K) really be worn out ? Would adding a leaf be better ? Are Sumo springs or air bags the best idea ?

The stock springs even brand new don't do a great job of load handling whatsoever. They are known to loose their arch pretty quickly unfortunately

    All stock, baby!
I just replaced my TSB leaf packs which were installed on the truck in 2018. They were slightly inverted unloaded. The previous owner didn't haul much more than a surfboard in the truck so it's not heavy use that kills 'em. My thought is that Toyota wanted the truck to look cool by having it sit level unloaded, rather than a slight rake. Oh, and the Sport model "benefits from" heavier spring rates so that it handles like a sports car. (not)

TRD sport / base sr5 and TRD OR 6 lug trucks up until november 2013 actually did come with different leaf springs. The non TRD OR trucks came with a 3+1 leaf pack and the TRD OR trucks came with a 2+1 leaf pack for "smoother ride off road".... you thought the 3+1 leaf pack was bad... the 2+1 that originally came on my truck was a JOKE, almost on the bump stops with all of a dirtbike in the bed.

My rear leafs gave up last year. Feels like it is constantly bottomed out or overloaded. ~110k when it happened. Looking to replace with OEM stuff since I had good experience with them. Search craigslist or this forum for peeps doing suspension upgrades.

I put some hellwig bolt on helper springs on my truck to help with towing a travel trailer. They worked great. You keep the stock height and I didn't notice any difference in ride quality. I got the 500lb set from Amazon. I think they were well under $200. It took about half an hour to install them in my garage.

Are spring assisted shocks a viable option ?

The oem leaf packs on these trucks are not good. Here’s my 3+1 packs w/ 100k.

I feel like aftermarket leafs or airbags are the best option. Putting helper springs on crap leaf packs is just prolonging the inevitable. If you plan on keeping the truck long enough why buy twice?

No, they put lift loads on the shock mounts which they aren't intended for. Also the ones I saw (years ago) were junk.

Stop by a local shop that specializes in commercial truck suspension, most larger towns have one around. It will be called "Your town Spring Works" or something similar.

They don't advertise, have nice buildings or carry fancy brands that come with stickers and the like but they do have a catalog with different spring selections and guys who do spring work every day to help you select the right springs for the job, the install will only take a hour or two.

If you can't find a spring place stop by any business with a fleet of vans and trucks and ask who does their spring work, they will direct you.

OME dakar medium duty leaf springs brought my a half in above stock height in the rear after adding a shell and a couple hundred pounds of gear.
Id suggest a new leaf pack, either OME mediums or hd
