Long story I got caught up in the crazy trade in prices in March. I traded in my 21 DCLB TRD Off Road for a new 22 LTD. LTZ 6.2L Z71 Silverado crew cab standard bed. I got the 21 MSRP price for the tacoma. loved the truck to tall and long to park in garage.
So recently close to the neighborhood ther was a couple of catalytic converters stolen. Also one neighbor left there vehicle unlocked one pistol stolen. My cameras caught someone at night approaching my truck motion light activated they took could not see a face.
So my tacoma search started I know what I want so nothing close in inventory. Plan B a 4runner found a new 22 TRD Sport in Jasper Indiana. Could not find one close by to test drive to make sure height wise would fit in garage. I got 1000.00 more then I paid for the Chevy in March. So I make the deal and get it home to tall for the garage. According to the toyota specs. It should have only been 1in. taller. Does not include roof racks.
So search again for a Tacoma about 1 week later some pop up one In IL. No sell to out of state. One in Milwaukee exactly what I want dealer add on BS and massive market adjustment. A few days later a TRD Off Road army green access cab pops up on cars.com. Contact dealer in TN. yes they have it just came in MSRP pricing. Not a fan of dark colors but not much popping up in my area other then DCSB not into the short bed. So a 6hr. drive later last Sat. I picked it up my daughter recently moved to Knoxville she met me at the dealer. So add a 7hr. drive back went up to Indiana my family is from Evansville.
Observation the 4runner interior room and seats are a lot better. The 4.0 better mpg compared to the tacoma.
I have feelers out and will keep a eye out for a DCLB TRD OR in white or silver. The Green is growing on me for now.

4Runner seats blow the 3rd Gen Tacoma away. Not sure why they didn’t consolidate the design.

They didn't even need to do that. There's enough room between the frame rails that they could have lowered the floor pans between them, even if it was just for the foot areas. It would have made for a much better seating position.

Can 4Runner seats be bolted right into our Tacoma’s interior?

    Access Cab... Army Green... YES
As far as putting it into the garage - you can always move to a larger house, knock down some walls,
and then lay down a Persian rug in the living room and park it there, where it belongs.

Welcome! I’m always interested to hear stories of people who switched back to a Tacoma after having a different truck.

We have a 20 4Runner and an 18 Taco both Limiteds. Just got back from at 500 mile round trip in the runner and There is no comparison in seats. The 4Runner seats were completely comfortable for the entire trip, in my Taco I’m feeling the need to stretch after an hour or so.
Money wise do you feel you have lost anything with switching trucks that quick? Sales tax and fees taken into account…I’m just curious.

The 4Runner is an overrated, outdated, top-heavy, inefficient, gutless relic. But hey, its cool and all that.

Maybe because I have full-time 4x4 and also I use 5W-30 in the 4Runner vs 0W-20 in the Tacoma, the Tacoma's averaging about 2 mpg better than the 4Runner.

that’s actually built in Japan, and doesn’t down/upshift like some cracked out lunatic. I own both, and there’s no way in hell the turd gen taco is better…not even in the same hemisphere
