    Muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid

Water will indeed dilute it and effectively neutralize it.

As will baking soda with copious amounts of CO2 evolved

sure , I find it easier to spray off a slab we're cleaning with water that to try to sprinkle baking soda solution over the whole thing though

Any suggestion on what to use to smooth the cement without scratching the surface?

I have the Dewalt DW849 rotary polisher. A lot granite shops uses them around here.

Get it too smooth and youll have a pretty bad slip hazard when its wet.

Did the installer not broom it off to give it texture?

Can you get a close up shot?? I am not even sure what you are worried about

I would move on to finish the rest of the front. Seems like you are a bit focused on this detail.

No broom lines. There's trowel marks in different directions. While cleaning he put the grinder down with a wire brush attachment that left wire brush marks. Marks are like 1/4 moon shape. I want texture but not to much. I'm too picky.

You can see some in this picture I posted before. Not much. I have to wait for someone to take new pics.

    IMG_6640.jpg

I see some porches with smooth finish but it has a light texture to the finish.

It's more the wire brush on the grinder marks that stands out the most. I was told if I want it somewhat smooth I would have to do it myself. Not to many contractors will spend the extra time to make it look perfect. My neighbor spent 3 days cleaning up his porch to make it look perfect. The contractor also mentioned that he would have to make the caps in the shop then transport them here, if I want them to look perfect. At the shop he can smooth them out perfect. There's no way way he can make it look good on site with wooden frame/molds.

I looked at a lot of porches that look perfect but I don't know what was involved in making them look this way. I'm too picky.

My other option was a pre-cast. The shop told me that everything is perfectly smooth and flawless before it leave the shop. The surface aren't smooth as glass but smooth. He doesn't want anyone to slip and fall. The owner inspects everything before it leaves. If something get damage it's either from shipping or the contractor.

Why not get an epoxy coating with smooth stones?

Somebody probably forced it in when the plug tip was caught on a prong in the outlet.

Alright so I'm thankful for my Uncle calling attention to my well pump's small leak, Came home yesterday from 'Froadin' and decided to take a look at it figured I just needed to tighten the clamps or adjust the hose...

Grabbed the hose and went to snug up the clamps and the line burst, it had a tiny split in it already I figure as it broke off right at the pump outlet nipple. The white plastic crap flex line had hardened and embrittled definitely not the right hose for the task and not UV stable.

Had to slap a seat back in the truck (took them out to pick up the flooring to help dry it out from afformentioned 'Froadin') and haul ass to O'Reilly's to get a hose, only place I could think of that was open and close that could have something that would work.

Made it 10 minutes before they closed and got a Gates 1" radiator hose and got my pump working and not leaking but I can't help but feel like my well pump and pressure cylinder are all fucked up.

So somebody school me, what the hell is all this junk? Fortunately the hise that burst was the pressure hose and not the suction hose but will my "fix" work long term? Do I need a "well pump rated" hose and or potable water hose?

What else do the professionals see wrong with this heap and how do I fix or maintain it?

Right now the pressure seems fine but the pump seems to run anytime there's water running so I don't think my pressure tank is working right.

What the hell is this. Black doesn't seem like a good thing. PXL_20220731_011155136.jpg

I also get water out of the schrader which I'm assuming is a bad thing.

    PXL_20220730_231257685.jpg

Blowing a well pump line and having to last minute fix it was not how I wanted to end my day after swimming the truck but at least it's working for now and I didn't have to shell out $400 for an emergency well pump call to the bastards that probably jerry rigged this shit to begin with.

Previous owner said they always called them to fix the pump, if that white line was their work then I'd call them hacks!

    lots going on there...heres basics
    https://inspectapedia.com/water/Well_Pump_Operation_2_Line_Jet.php

Is there a air filler cap on top of the tank? Does the pump turn off and on constantly when you open faucet inside house? If its short cycling the tank prob has too much water. Its supposed to have some but not full.

As for the pipes id guess regular pvc would be better than that broken one that looks like a temp fix from a pool pump unit. The rest is pvc so id venture to use that.

So it's a two line jet pump, that's good info thanks!

How do I get water out of the pressure tank, the drain cock on the backside I'm assuming?

Afraid to drain it too much and lose the pump's prime.

You should be able to tap on side of tank, id say you want half or above that line sticking out the side.

Obviously you will have to turn power off to pump to drain a little water if the tank is too full

Any way to tell if this is an air over water/pressure bladder/diaphragm type pressure tank?

And no there's not a valve on top that I saw, just remnants of what I assume was a handle for pickup it up for installation?

Those cheapie blue back outlets usually cost less than a dollar each -- they break a lot, these are often found unboxed in what retailers call "dump bins" in the store, now you know why.

Upgrade to a commercial outlet, sometimes marked "Spec Grade", they cost more ($2-3 each) but you only install them once.
Good outlets will have a full steel back strap like the one below.
