We have tuned many Manual trucks with the KDMAX tunes with great reviews. Our current KDMAX-Pro+XT is the best to date.
You can read many happy MT customer reviews in our thread. You will not be disappointed! We can customize your tune to your needs.
Reach out to your local tuner they often have events planned that will offer a group discount.
If you need help finding a tuner please let me know.

Awesome! Thank you for the quick response. I’m stoked! Already made contact with Chris in Suffolk, VA, we’re going to meet up here shortly I hope (seems like he’s pretty flexible, I just have to talk my wife into it!)

Is it dumb to keep the pedal commander with this tune in case I want to retard the throttle response while off-roading? I definitely want the aggressive tune on my MT because on the streets I drive like a teenage boi and I like it, but want to roll slow Offroad without a super touchy throttle. (Sorry if this has been discussed too many times already). Disregard. I see limp mode is likely and definitely want to avoid that! Might be selling a very lightly used pedal commander soon!

I would remove the Pedal Commander. I think you will find the tune will work both on and off road really nice for you. I am sure some MT guys can chime in let you know how it works for them both on and off road.

    Howdy,
I have been running manual tunes on my 2016 Offroad for a long time now and started with the original OV tune way back. Even for manuals, the KDMAX manual tunes make a huge difference and are well worth the money. As far as I have seen there has never been a price difference for manuals going all the way back to the original OV tunes with any company because there is still a lot of work that goes into making sure each gear still has the correct parameters even though we control the shifting.

With the new Pro+XT tune your lower end is so much more usable and pickup is amazing. It will get rid of any lag and there is much more usable torque at the lower end. I am currently running the XT sport tune for 5.29 gears with AGM alternator settings and was running the same tune for stock gears before I regeared just a bit ago. My truck is super heavy with bigger tires and she performs extremely well now. My local Offroad shop even commented on the drivability of my truck the first time I took it in with these new tunes and now recommends it for all 3rd gen owners who visit them.

PM me if you have any other questions about manuals and the tune. As @TWTaco stated if you go to group tunes it is possible to get a group rate and the KDMAX customer service is top notch.

Banjoist13 just attempted to “start a conversation.” It’s been a while since I surfed the TW forum, excited to be back now that I’ve upgraded to a 3rd gen and I’m starting from scratch on this build!

As a manual owner I can assure you the tune is just as big of a difference on a MT as on an auto. With the tune you will find 2nd to be a lot more usable. You will have more power in lower RPM, greatly increasing driveability at low speeds.

Another point to mention that most don't realize. In the stock MT tune, the trucks ECU responds differently to throttle input based on the gear you are in. This is not logical, and the tune corrects this. Resulting in a more consistent driving experience. Every 3rd gen Tacoma will benefit greatly from a tune. You'll see when you get yours done.

    Cheers

Do you know for sure if the latest version, 1.6.8.72922, is bad for all or only in your circumstance? Did you download and overlay the latest or attempt to update from inside the previous version?
