Had my A/T temp oil light come on when off roading and having the A/C on for the girlfriend. It was 77 out and the trail was only about 5 miles long. Any reasons why ? I have tan this many times with no issues. Drive it once I was out and the light turned off.

Do you have an external auxiliary cooler?

You may want to invest in one.

    How old is your radiator?

It has the tow package which has one in front of the radiator and it’s the stock radiator.

Low speeds and a/c don't go well with each other. Most tacomas don't have condenser fans.

Also 2007 its a good idea to check the rad, I recently suggested it to another member and it helped their overheating.

Wash it out and take a peak above between the rad and condenser for mud and dirt.

I can honestly say I have not yet had Trans temp issues.
But I usually try on to “crawl” or go “slow” in 4HI while.
I’ve heard slow speeds and long inclines in 4HI can cause the trams temps to climb.

I’d like to know your opinion here. Is this true?
Is 4Lo the better choice for slow crawls and inclines?
Or is this just an old myth?

I have an ultra gauge and 4LO is far better for slow crawling especially climbing hills. Temps spike 10x faster in 4HI from the extra throttle and slippage that is happening in the torque converter.

Yes, 4lo means less TC action. You want the TC to produce as little heat as possible.

Easier on the clutch in a manual as well.

The only problem with 4lo is when the trail gets faster, it actually produces more heat and more strain on the drive line. Simply due to revs.

I wish toyota had left the damn levers in the tcase so you could switch it quickly.

I wouldn’t care if they bring back manual hubs again.
I just don’t like all this electronic controlled stuff.
Putting electrical components in places that are prone to dust, dirt, mud, and water just doesn’t set well with me.

I was in 4 HI and I was going up a hill but never was an issue before but I’ll keep it low from now on.
