I still think you are confused about how this all works. If the vehicle is produced, shipped and sold without ever sitting on a lot that is more successful and generates higher revenues than a vehicle that sits on a lot waiting to be purchased. Time sitting on lots and waiting on discounts is money lost.

Now you're just off on a tangent.

I guess you're right that the best product is one you can buy but that's a whole different argument.

The people waiting in line to purchase gas might buy one.

Nope, you’re the one that is using that as something to prove your point. It’s not my job to prove your point.

That's good for the manufacture and seller. That does not benefit the buyer. You don't even get to test drive the vehicle.

I guess you can test drive before you take delivery, but chances are you are still going to buy. There's also zero incentive for the seller to come down on price, or offer anything to the buyer to complete the sale.

More often than not, the seller increases the price before finalizing the sale. Perhaps the market coud swing in favor of the buyer.

Which is unlikely, to occur with minimal supply.

That might not apply to buying a Picasso.

If you own a gas station, and you can't get any gas delivered. Your gas station is going to earn the reputation of having the worse gas in town.

Don't go to WaitingOnMyR1T's gas station, you can't even get gas there. Good luck selling a customer a stale Butterfinger, when they aren't coming there to buy gas, because you can't get any gas to sell.

Sounds like you are confusing the best buying experience with the best product.

The worst buying experience is not being able to buy the product.

Okay and how does that impact the quality of the product? Are you one of those people that rates a product 1 star because you weren’t able to buy it?

And what product that you can't buy are you complaining about? You can buy a variety of EVs within the same wait period for a Tacoma. Not a Rivian obviously, but they also have only been producing trucks for about nine months not 50 years like Toyota so I think they get a pass on the delivery timeline for a while.

    I'm not complaining.

It's the consumer that complains when they can't get their EV, gas, medicine, food, water or what ever may be in demand when they want it.

When you can't get that product what ever it is
Even when it could be the best product, it's not that great when you can't get it.

I can't say that Rivian is doing a bad job at getting vehicles out. The smaller the company, or start up the less likely they are to keep up with their competitors. The majority of their competitors have been around for close to a century. That's the business Rivian chose to compete in. I can't give them a pass, anymore than I can blame them for their inevitable success or failure.

Guys, uh, Schroeder’s Razor’s law says to consider the possibility he’s a troll. Ever heard of trolls? Block as you see fit. I only see his stuff because you repost his quotes. YMMV.

Or carry on with your reason and proofs and axiomatic stuff. I’ll read it either way.

I think it was a bigger deal than that. GM and LG spent $2 billion on replacement batteries. They wouldn’t have done that if only .016% of them were actually dangerous.

I think they would. In today’s climate of overreaction and hysterical media articles even a couple deaths a year of someone burning to death is enough to kill the entire brand. Very few people will actually research the data, they will just read about how another Chevy Bolt caught on fire and burnt a buyer down and think that is a danger from all of them.

I could of course be completely wrong and GM discovered some fatal flaw that would inevitably lead to the battery pack catching on fire over time.
