I have 2 pieces of 4' L track running horizontally across the front panel, one up front, and the other near the hinge. I can secure a 20 qt cooler opening to the side or a 45 qt opening to the rear with no issues and I'm still able to open the front panel. Obviously it won''t stay open due to the additional weight. Speaking of that, has anyone made a "kickstand" similar to the support rod for a hood? I know you can get stronger gas struts, but I don't want to fight those when there is not a load on top.

Honestly the stronger struts aren't all that bad. I needed them when I added my bed rack on top (roughly 80lbs on each panel). Needs a good push to get it up, but will stay open afterwards.

Unfortunately I don't. What I did end up doing was giving them a call, and they looked up my account. I asked them for the heaviest struts they have (which I believe is only one of two weights) and they billed me, and sent the parts out. Was a really quick process.

Standard struts are 80, Heavier struts are 135. I added a Headache Rack to my cover--needed the 135's to allow the cover to open.

has anyone had an issue with the handle's turning 1/4 of the way open consistently? I secure it closed, then after a ride around the block it turns a 1/4 of the way open.

Would anyone in SoCal be interested in a diamondback se for a 3rd gen dcsb? I got it from my brother and it’s missing a couple small pieces. I’m open to negotiate the price in your favor because of the missing pieces.

Anyone on this Diamondback cover conversation attach cross bars somehow to the cleats on a Diamondback HD cover? I do not want to drill additional holes. Would be cool if the towers would attach to the existing cleats.

I have the UpTop Overland bed rack that attaches directly to the cleats. The small and mid height versions allow the diamondback to still open up. Might be a bit more than you’re looking for though.

That’s actually my truck in the first few photos.

Yea that is more than I am looking for but that was one concept I had thought of. A bracket that mounts under the cleat bent up and then cross bar connects to it. Leaving the cleat usable still. The other thought is to clamp a tower to the cleat. And then the cross bar. I like the second better because I can remove fairly quickly.

This was designed by someone on here, I forget who. They made it so it had those cross bars just straight across like you wanted. You might have to either call or email Chassis Unlimited for that specific option.

The bars can be removed by taking out the bolts that attach them to the uprights. The uprights stay in place, and the cover can swing open.

    Exactly what I'm looking for

Just want a way to carry my bike on top with a fork mount without spending $900 on a front runner or whatever

If you need to open the cover, you just pop the crossbars off and leave the uprights in place.
