Access cab rake

Hey, do you guys does know for sure what the rake is on 3rd gen and is it different for a double cab vs access cab? I’ve heard half inch, inch and even slightly more than an inch. When I lift mine I’d like to keep the nose down.

 

DCs are slightly heavier than ACs, so that may make AC rear slightly higher. See page 15 of this PDF for curb weights of AC and DC.

The rear should from factory with everything fresh sit 2" higher so that when towing/hauling it sits level without squatting like a dog dragging it's ass on your gramma's Persian rug ala the Carolina's.

 

My DC had a 1” factory rake (driver side) and 1 1/4” (pass. side) before I lifted it. I still have a 1” rake now, but that’s with my camper shell on and sitting 1” higher all around.

So then I just buy a lift kit that’s 2.5” front and back, looks like many kits come higher in the front wasn’t sure if you can choose the height or if the kits are height specific front and back?

 

so when you lifted so you do the same height on the front as on the back?

 

In my case, yes (at least that’s the end result, which I’ll explain further on). But a lot of people lift the front 1” higher than the back. I’m not a fan of that personally, because it truly levels the truck and gets rid of all the rake. The downside is you’ll be squatting when you load it up and do pickup stuff with it.

For me it started with buying a camper shell, which weighs about 200 lbs. (and sags the rear by about a 1/2”). I also regularly haul around another 300-400 lbs. worth of gear for my work, which sags the rear down another inch or so. I didn’t want to be squatting half the time I drive this truck, so I got a 3 leaf progressive Add-a-Leaf, which was a 1.5” lift. With the weight my shell on there (and bed unloaded), the rear sat 1” higher than stock after the AAL, so I had a 2” rake at that point. So then I put a 1” lift on the front to even it out, and that put me back to the 1” factory rake, but with the whole truck now sitting 1” higher than stock (with the shell installed). Now I can still load a few hundred #s of shit in the bed or tow a smallish trailer and I’ll sit level.

 

Depends of the lift, some are mildly adjustable like 5100's some are fully adjustable like Fox/King threaded body coil overs, some aren't adjustable at all.

Obviously the more adjustable ones are more expensive but I think Bilstein 5100's should be enough for you and anything beyond that is over kill.

Not the best picture but the only one I have pure profile, my truck is lifted 3/3 and sits 2+ish higher in the rear, I like the rake though it has settled a little since this picture.

 

You did it totally right then IMO. I see so many Taco’s with a shell/ cap that sag. Yours looks perfect and with like you said room to spare to load more stuff. I’m usually only carrying 100lbs or so. I’m thinking of doing 2.5” front and back keeping my factory rake which is roughly an inch maybe bit more and I can haul whiteout grandma’s sag.
