Quebec has been trying to separate for a long time, we have had several referendums, but they have never been able to get 51% of the province to agree to it. The west (Saskatchewan west) has talked about separating, since we have all the natural resources and have to pay equalization payments to the have not provinces like Quebec.

Head to Washington? why the hell would I go there? Canada does indeed have a military, and while not nearly as large as Americas, it does serve a vital role. We don't need your protection, we need protection from you. You talk about Canada being a good neighbor, hell yea we are, its you my southern friend that haven't been a very good neighbor. You pretty much ended our forest industry with tariffs that still haven't been paid back. Then when all the companies were hurting you decided to come in and buy them all out. closing mills and laying off thousands of workers, shipping all the wood to your mills across the border. You have been taking electricity and water from us for many years, without paying a cent for it. You ruined countless beef farmers with your ban on Canadian meat. Your government is trying to put a man in jail for life for selling seeds over the internet to the US. He's never even been to the US. No we'll just sit here in our igloos and keep taking it.

Separate from Canada hell yea they don't give a damn about us out west.

I had a fleeting thought that maybe all these people who are "against" gun ownership may very well be jealous that we have the right to own whatever firearm we want. My $0.02

YOU just seem to want to argue, I share a lot of your views on gun control and you're still arguing. You're the one that made things personal with you're unsubstantiated comments about hunting accidents in Canada not to mention your sarcastic use of "EHHH". We're trying to have a civil debate, why don't you produce an argument that isn't based on something you heard from a friend of a friend.
And since we're getting personal why don't you check out this really neat feature called spell check. I lose respect for people that can't express themselves properly.

So its my understanding that it is the states that make the laws regarding there "gun control". How come that can't be more of a federal thing? Like the sales are regulated federally but the laws regarding possession and concealment left to the states?

In both our countries there is a huge problem with addiction, the drug creates the criminal. However if we stop treating addicts as criminals and more as sick people, they would stop stealing for there fix.

Tac makes it personal now. Wasn't even talking about your post the Leaf. And as a matter of fact I have close friends that live in Ontario... Ohh but wait... do you consider Ontario part of Canada or is that to close to America??

If you legalized all drugs and dispensed them with a prescription, slowly weaning them off the drug. Vancouver has a safe injection site, they provide needles and a safe place to "shoot up". It has helped many people to kick the addiction and get back on with living life. There is evidence that it is cheaper to treat the addiction and keep them out of the justice system, then it is to put those people in and out of jail. Also you take the drugs away from organized crime and all the violence associated with it.
