    Installing Pioneer AVH-4300DVD in 05 double cab w'JBL

    Anyone know off the top of their head what color wires I can splice into on the factory JBL harness by the head unit.. I have 3 wires left to do...

    Illumination Wire: I thought maybe the GREEN wire on the larger of the three harnesses but apparently its not correct.

    Mute Wire?

    Guessing I don't use the violet wire if I'm not using a back up camera.

    Thanks

    I think I have the wires correct, (minus I dunno where the "mute" wire attaches too) though when I start the truck the dash lights blink off/on and I hear a relay type clicking noise.. Anyone have any idea's? Originally the headunit turned on and seemed to be running fine for the first minute or so then all of a sudden it turned off and the dash lights started clicking off/on..

    Sounds like a short. Did you use t-taps for connections? If so, make sure they are tight.

    Used to be a mute wire was for connecting to a car phone (old school) so when it rings the stereo would "mute" while the phone was in use.
    Seems like that would be almost obsolete these days tho:confused:

    I just installed the 4300 too. Dont have JBL but the mute wire was not used, and I cant tell that it had any effect.

    Yes there is a Yellow/Black Stripe wire which is the MUTE wire, I'm assuming that it'll only be used if you are going to use the optional bluetooth option. If I'm not, then the wire stays free of any connections.

    Stereo's up and running FINALLY... For future references for other members installing the PIONEER AVH-4200/4300DVD here is the wire diagraph. (*note: I have the JBL Package, so non JBL units MAY be different)

    AVH-4300DVD Colored Wire ----->>> JBL (Biggest of the 3) Harness Colored Wire

    Yellow (Constant 12v) --> Blue/Yellow
    Orange/White (Illumination) --> Green
    Red (Ignition Switch 12v) --> Gray
    Black (Ground) --> Brown
    Violet/White (Reverse Lead) --> Did not use since I wasn't using a backup camera
    Yellow/Black (Mute) --> Did not use since I wasn't using bluetooth
    Light Green (Parking Brake) --> 12v Relay (see http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/82657-pioneer-avh-p4200dvd-bypass.html)
    Blue/White (Remote) --> Use as your amp remote, also to the 12v relay - See above link if you're using the bypass method.
    8 speaker wires (White/Purple/Green/Gray) --> (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...tereo-system-scratch-2nd-gen.html#post2761110)

    Installing SWI-PS (steering wheel harness) to JBL Harness (Smaller of the 3 - This Harness only has three total wires on it)

    Red (Power) --> Connect to Red wire from AVH-4300 Harness (or Blue/White from OEM JBL Harness.
    Black (Ground) (Make into 2 wires) --> 1 end to White/Red on little 3-wire harness
    Black (Ground) (Make into 2 wires) --> Other end to ground (Brown on JBL largest Harness)
    White (splits as well) --> The resistor wired piece to White/Black
    White --> The NON resistor wired piece to Purple/White

    Hope all this is helpfull...
