Thanks! And if you do end up getting the green truck, you are going to love it. Although the red is a great color too.

That's good to hear that only ~5% of the vehicles have the defect. According to the goodcarbadcar site, Toyota sells about 18-20K Tacomas per month. So the 75K must refer to the total number of double cab trucks built during that time period (the CR article states only DC are affected not AC). I don't know if the recall involves TMMBC, TMMGT, or both. My truck was built in Guanajuato in early May and is not showing any open recalls so far.

I agree with you 100%. The request/allocation system seems fairly random these days and is extremely frustrating. Some dealers will take your request and submit it to Toyota because they feel there is a chance it will get accepted. Most won't, stating that Toyota doesn't listen/accept them. Both are correct.
After several months of waiting, my dealer received an allocation for almost everything I initially requested (specific color, trim, transmission, LED/premium packages, and TRD exhaust) except it was missing tech package. There is no way that happened by chance, especially with a manual and the exhaust. So clearly Toyota did listen to them, even if they were not able to produce the exact vehicle requested. OTOH, after I declined that allocation, this dealer and another one continued to submit my (now expanded) requests every 2-4 weeks. Neither of them received a matching allocation after nearly 5 months, despite having a willing customer with checkbook in hand. Conversely, two local markup dealers ended up with unreserved Tacomas making it to their lots which matched my revised criteria, and both of those dealers were willing to swap with my dealer and that is how I ended up getting mine. So dealer exchanges can occur, but they are at discretion of dealers (and probably facilitated by month/quarter-end incentives) and not prohibited by the manufacturer. The only explanation I can think of for why my truck was allocated to another dealer was that the allocation occurred a few months before I expanded my color and package selections -- perhaps if I had been less selective upfront then maybe one of my dealers would have received that allocation instead. Anyway I posted my full story on page 506 of this thread if you'd like to read more.

Waiting on the tech package is likely my downfall. I’ve seen a couple on Autotrader without it that match my other specs but none with it. My dealer said current supply issues on the Blind Spot Monitor is possibly the reason, as since that is standard on the Limited, other trims only get what’s left. He hasn’t seen what I want in over a year.

Yeah good luck on a tech package. But then again if you plan on getting steel rear bumper, no other company makes bumpers that have the holes for the sensors so it’s kinda a 50/50 if you do or don’t want a aftermarket rear bumper.

I'm kind of annoyed. Two weeks ago my sales guy told me my truck had left Mexico and had departed San Diego by rail. Well I just found out that my truck hasn't even left Mexico yet. :annoyed: I guess I need to learn how to be patient

Tell me about it….. my salesperson told me my truck was sitting at the port of Long Beach CA, but didn’t have an answer. I’ve gotten more clarification on here then with them. So long story short my truck has been sitting at Long Beach since 7/18….

I’ve been doing my research, so on the 15/16 of July, truckers are having these protests against having to go work under a company (AB5) and will no longer be able to work independently. So they blocked the oakland port and idk if they did on Long Beach but it caused a fiasco. So idk if there is a rail station on the port, or they have to driven by truck to the rail station. So my theory is the protests caused a delay or it has to do with the influx of cargo stagnant on the port/ships anchored in the sea waiting to dock and they can’t keep up.

I guess this isn't really new information but the general manager at my dealership friday said the Baja plant keeps having logistic issues and they're basically stuck moving trucks around from lot to lot waiting for semis to come get them and take them to San Diego. I ended up doing all my paperwork to lock in the 1.9% APR that expires today so I'm really hoping the truck arrives soon. Fortunately I don't give the down payment until it arrives and the dealership said they could void the contract if the vehicle was damaged or put on a long hold.
