Aluminum is why. LCA skids, not so worth it IMO.

Looks like @Sixthelement needs to slow down the rebound in the rear a little.

Yeah the LCA skids aren't really worth it. Had them on my Tacoma, never saw a single scratch. Honestly I feel like those are mostly for looks. I don't see a need for them anymore.

But, the structure of that belly pan is reinforced with steel underneath. You can actually use it as a jack point, aluminum is just the "outer shell"... then again, who in their right mind is really gonna get after $4k worth of unitized aluminum. Seems like most units are hardly gonna see dirt.

Aluminum does fill a good niche of being strong enough to handle "easy weekend warrior" shit and not requiring E range tires. I like it on my DD.

Totally agree. For a DD and light weekend warrior. Aluminum is the choice. Just pricey.

I keep hearing and seeing mixed stories on the weather. I’ll believe it when it’s happening lol

My 2cents. I love my full aluminum skids (but I did get a killer deal). With how heavy the truck is already, I'll save weight anywhere and anyway I can. I've used the floor jack off the main skid and havent had any issues. They gouge up some on bigger hits, but for the most part they still slide off most stuff. I just hit them with a flap disc when needed to knock down any burrs. No paint/PC needed or any rust protection. The weight savings is substantial. I can remove and install all my skids by myself with no other aids. Have had to do it a couple times on the trail and was glad to have the aluminum when pulling skids in the sand dunes at KOH. Yes they wont hold up as well as steel for serious abuse, but they are secondary protection anyways imo.. good lines are #1. It's definitely all about how you're going to use it.. but mine is not a DD either.

Got sidetracked yesterday doing multiple other projects while changing the oil.. and at the end of the day forgot to take out my plastic water bottle I use for the oil filter catch. Get to work this morning and hear an odd sound. Pop the hood and see the mess, then the bottle...
