Hopefully it wasn't sold as a TRD Offaroad, that seems to happen quite often to unsuspecting buyers that don't know how to tell the difference.

Was definitely sold as a TRD Off-road.
Huge rookie mistake on my part.

Yea some dealers don't know the difference if it was traded in as such, other more unscrupulous ones will do it to get more money for the truck as TRD OffRoads tend to sell for a premium.

It was a big Dodge dealership so I have a feeling they probably knew. I’m sure they ran the vin at some point. But went off the sticker to list it for more money. I’m just sour that I didn’t catch it before buying. I would’ve still bought the truck, just would have used that as a bargaining tool that’s all.

At least it looks like it's a sport and not an SR5, really the only thing in that year an offroad has that a sport doesn't is the locking rear axle.

To be completely honest I wouldn’t know the difference unless I see them side by side lol.
& Yeah I’m not worried about it really. Like I said, E-locker would be cool. But not at all necessary for me.

That being said… it has a SR5 badge on the tailgate… is that normal? Lol

Early model TRD trucks had an SR5 badge, late models did not.

The easiest thing to differentiate an OffRoad truck is they will have the RR DIFF LOCK button and an actuator on the rear axle.

Don't beat yourself up over it...it's a good-looking truck the way it sits. 95% of the people who see it won't know that it's not a real "Off Road"; just run it. Or if it bugs ya, peel the decal off and get a correct replacement. I'd rather have the sport personally speaking over my OR.

Thanks man. yeah that’s true! I think I’ll leave it for now. May change out the sticker for a sport one at some point.

Nice truck you have also!

Thats not always a dead giveaway though..........

Ive got a 2020 OR and it and the other two ORs I was contemplating buying also both had paint matched bumpers. All 3rd gens yes, but not sure if it was any different on 2nd gens. IIRC it was the "tech" package available for the OR, or whatever came with the rear bumper sensors and auto seat warmers also usually came with paint matched rear bumper.

Id say VIN would probably be the definitive way.

He can just look at the dash and see if he has a rear locker button. Sports have auto LSD buttons and off roads have a rear locker button.

To be honest the "locker" only operates in 4LO anyway.
Not sure why they call it a "true" locker.

I would never miss it and most don't. Nice truck someone took good care of it.
I have a Sport; people will give you grief because you have something they want. The hood scoop.

You can scoop all the time, but they can only lock when crawling.

You can get a 3rd gen OR w/ chrome caps on the bumper. They're matched with the advanced tech package. It may be swapped to matched w/ basic tech package too. I *think* all sports are paint matched

I do not have a LSD button in my 2022 Sport MT
It does have a TRAC (on/off) button,. If you push and HOLD the TRAC it will turn on LSD.

When you put the truck in 4LO the LSD light and TRAC both come on automatically.

Yeah tbh I’m not too worried. I’m not doing any crawling. What it has will be just fine for me.
Thanks man. Yeah she’s in pretty good condition for sure!

Auto LSD was introduced in 09 but it uses the traction control button, there is not an Auto LSD button. Pre 09 Sport models had a mechanical LSD rear axle.
