So I’m at a 285/75/16 K02 on 16x8 -12 Ray 10s wanting to move up to a 315/75/16 (unsure of brand). I’m stock gears, stock tune with a roof rack, no bumpers (yet) already getting 13-14mpg, hoping a tune will help while I save for gears.

I predominantly do highway driving to and from work and will do a lot of highway driving to and from offroading and camping destinations. Reason number 1 pushing me towards an AT rather than a MT. I don’t want loud road noise if I’m driving for 6-10 hours. :anonymous:

My decision has been narrowed down to K02 or Wildpeaks. (If you have experience or preference to a different tire close to these sizes, pictures and explanation is appreciated)

While K02 seem to be great offroad they SUCK in the rain and are “loud” on the highway as well as being quite expensive for an AT.

Wildpeaks are cheaper, quieter and lighter and apparently phenomenal in the rain and snow but they don’t seem to be very aggressive for offroad.

If MT weren’t so expensive, wore faster and loud I’d be open to them as an option but spending $1500+ on tires to find out they are awful on the highway is something I don’t really want to deal with.

Not to throw another curve ball your way, but there are a few tires that fall into a hybrid AT/MT category. The Nitto Ridge Grappler for example. They would offer an aggressive pattern for offroad, while great features for onroad travel. PM on the way

I would avoid wildpeaks. They used to be a good deal but overpriced for what they are now. Mine are already dry rotting and were a bitch to balance.

Peaks are also known to feel bouncy/ out of balance on the highway. As soon as I installed mine the highway ride got considerably worse than my previous coopers.

give it some time. They may dry rot prematurely.

I've had Continental Terrain Contact for 20,000 miles. I keep them rotated every 5000 miles. No road noise great traction and wear. My offloading is thru fields and woods, no serious rock climbing. I'd buy them again.
