    San Francisco huh?
I’ve heard there are “Gentle people with flowers in their hair there”. Or al least that is what Scott McKenzie says.

Anuways, safe travels bud. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

It turns out that my dad is a preferred club member and we didn't have to wait in line, but the first SUV they gave us had a stolen plate on it.

I don't know enough about jet engines to form an opinion. Rolls-Royce Motorcars and Rolls-Royce aviation became two separate companies years ago...

So here's how I determined that the 2020 Tahoe we initially got likely had a stolen plate on it...

At major hub like SFO, you will see rental cars with plates from pretty much every state except Hawaii for obvious reasons. When I saw that our rental Tahoe had a Pennsylvania plate, I didn't think much of it, though it seemed very weird to me that a 2WD Tahoe would initially be registered in Pennsylvania. It also did not have Pennsylvania inspection stickers; I then happened to glance at the registration slip and discover that it was registered in Florida...

We brought this to the attention of the guy at the gate and after realizing that the plates didn't match, even though the VIN on the paperwork did match, he put us in a replacement vehicle. We were initially going to get a Ford Expedition, but while my dad was able to start the Expedition, he could not find the keys (it was pushbutton start and the keys were hidden somewhere in the truck). We ended up getting upgraded to a 2021 Suburban at no extra charge.

Just for grins, I ran the Pennsylvania plate on the 2020 Tahoe that we were originally supposed to get through Carfax, and came back to a 2021 Dodge Charger R/T. If some by-the-books state trooper had decided to randomly run the plate on that Tahoe while we were driving from San Francisco to Santa Rosa, it likely would not have resulted in an arrest, but it could have really resulted in an inconvenient start to our vacation!

The 2020 Tahoe LT that we were originally supposed to get. I have no idea how a Tahoe that's registered in Florida ended up in Northern California with a Pennsylvania plate from a 2021 Dodge Charger!

Note the Pennsylvania license plate; I took pictures at my dad's request to make sure we had proof that the Tahoe was not in particularly good condition at the time we got it, so he wouldn't get blamed later...

Even by rental car standards, this Tahoe was a shitbox. It was a 2020, but it had almost 64K miles, which seems high even for a rental. The interior seemed worn out and there were quite a few exterior imperfections, including this lovely bit of damage to the front bumper...

We ended up getting upgraded to a newer and much nicer 2021 Suburban with valid Colorado plates, and yes that is a 3rd Gen DCSB TRD OR available for rent!

Odd, but depending on the original service date it could have been out there since summer 2019, so 21K a year which is high but not shocking for a rental. Look how in demand rentals are.

I have to be honest, until last week I didn’t know what my tag # was.
I would have noticed if it were swapped or stolen. Because there a good size dent in the plate from back up to my trailer. I didn’t have as much room as I thought, thump. One day, if I ever get a new truck, it will have a back up camera.

I haven’t been on a plane in at least 10 years.
And that was when I went out to visit family in L.A.
I think the plane had internet, but I’m pretty sure you had to pay for it.

BTW, Los Angeles traffic is horrible.
This country boy didn’t know how to navigate in that environment.
And the natives out there always asked where I was from. (It was my accent)
