Its either a DPST switch like mentioned above, or theres a contactor in there (my bet, motor loads typically use these) and the light switch is just for the 120V to operate the coil. Both are perfectly safe.

We're setting forms on Wednesday for the footings and then it should be super quick to do the framing of the walls and rafters.

Maybe the group can help advise on something:
The barn is currently on a crush rock floor over clay (welcome to Oregon!). We want to put a concrete floor in once we take the old wall down (maybe about a month or two from now). Just looking at the floor as it is now, I'm pretty confident I can grade this all out myself if I break it up into sections instead of hiring a contractor (one guy wanted 16K to grade and pour my floor when there's 0 form work). The current crush rock floor is already 4" below where the lowest footing will be -- let's call that the top of my proposed slab. There's a pretty big hump where the wall I'm taking down will be so that'll be kind of a pain to break up, but it's doable as it's just a sliver of the overall floor. My question is, how much 3/4 minus would you put down for a 4" concrete floor (non structural) that will just house a gym and some wood working equipment? I'll assume it's a good idea to put some 6 mil poly down over the crush rock since it's being poured on clay, yeah? Or is that overkill? I'm looking to gauge how much hand digging I'll realistically need to do. My back can probably handle removing 2-6" of clay just chipping at it after work here and there, and I can easily handle screeding and tamping the 3/4 minus. But if I'm digging to China because I need 12 feet of gravel base then I'm renting a mini excavator.

If you rent a mini ex or skid steer it will probably be just a few hours of work.

As I have gotten older any time using a shovel just gets less and less attractive.

The more I look at it, the more my thoughts are going the same direction. I think a skid steer for a day ($300) would make pretty quick work of rough grading 6-8” below top of footing. It’s tight in there, but I think just straight in straight out would get the job done. Hmmm.

It won’t. Maybe a space heater here and there (I’ve got a provision for a 200A sub panel), but no plans for a dedicated heat system.

I would consider some Type 2 EPS foam under the slab but bare minimum I would do 3 or 4" of compacted granular fill and lapped and taped 6 mil poly , tape the poly at all seams and up the exterior walls

Monsoon season means lots of downed trees and cleaning up. Got tired of renting chainsaws and bought one today. It's a Stihl MS261C with an 18" bar. I suppose it's kind of a home improvement thing. :D

    I like those outlet too.
They can be back wired. They have a clamp in them that screws down and grabs the wire.
I always screw up my hook when side wiring. And I don’t like “push in” back wiring.
The ones show can be back wired, but hold much better.

Great saw, I have the non-C version. Thing is a beast with amazing power to weight ratio.

The home improvement contractor came today. He said they did a good job. The neatness of the work is normal for masonry contractor.

I wanted the gutter on the porch roof replace he want to replace the whole front of the house gutters. I wanted to replace damage vinyl siding, he wants to replace all the vinyl siding. It pretty much got nowhere fast.
