An EV would be perfect for my wife since her round trip commute is only 3 miles. Could do a golf cart, she didn’t care for that idea, especially in the winter. Doesn’t make sense financially though, costs us hardly anything for her current long been paid for vehicle. The insurance costs more per month than what gas she puts in.

I hear you on the 0-60 times, could care less. Rather have reliable and longest range possible.

It sounds like it’s the hub bolts that are the problem and not the wheel studs. So the entire hub is loosening up and coming off, not just the wheel? How is that even possible? Toyota has made millions of vehicles that the wheels didn’t fall off of. It sounds like they have no solution to fix it either.

    I love these threads!

The Rivian to me looks like it has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and the Toyota has its issues but I can't help but feel like that Rivian will be in a landfill next to the S-10's, Dakota V8's, and Rangers that I thought were cool back in the day when I bought my first new vehicle (Gen1 Tacoma AC V6 Auto TRD OR) long before even my friday built Turd Gen.

Edit: I think once the e-vehicles work out the obvious issues it'll be the future but I hope it looks better

Go to the build your truck page. When I did it the other day it came up to $96K for the mid size battery quad motor.

you get what you pay for

GM is a crap company, they make crap products

its really a shame that a company like GM that gets bailed out with our tax dollars still receives preferred treatment and still makes a shit box car after all this time

I feel like Rivian buyers may not be hamstrung by a $7500 tax credit. If they were worried about saving $7500 in the first place they'd buy a Ligthing instead.

My build (under original pricing) is at $81.7k. I’ll change a couple options to get under the $80k mark if it means saving $7.5k as a result.

We need to wait a few years before we judge the Rivian. It could turn out to be an overpriced shit box with a company that goes under.

Are those used demo trucks or something?
As soon as you select large battery which comes with the quad motors it’s an $85K truck. 20” AT tires add another $2500, skid plate $2K, full size spare $900, All weather floor mats $200 and a charger for $750 for a total of $91,350. Those are the minimum add ons to be a decent usable truck.

The pricing is based on old pre-order pricing. Those trucks are generally offered to people who have had extended waits on the pre-order list as options to select from to get a truck sooner rather than waiting for their specific build. Those of us who had pre-orders in place for a while have a much, much better price on the truck than current orders.
