My wife wanted the same honestly haha, we were time restricted with moving up here though so we settled for something that walked the line between both with ~25 people

    Staying tuned :pccoffee:

We're thinking like 250's or something along those lines. Big enough to rip around in the sand/on a track, but light and manageable enough for trail riding.
I think we're both the same way. Not a huge all eyes on me type person. I'd rather have close friends and family, have a small-ish wedding, and enjoy the reception.
We're throwing around the idea of hiring a food truck to cater. Same idea, why not have some memorable fun instead of having a formal nightmare?

A coworker wanted to do a pig roast for his wedding, but his wife objected. Years later, she said it would have been more memorable and cheaper. So, for their 25th anniversary, they decided to do it - they invited lots of people and had it in their back yard.

The standard wedding is so dry and stuffy… I really like out of the box ideas. It’s more fun to pull off, and more memorable for everyone there.
 Man I loved Show Low. Sorry about the single moms in your area, that sounds super rough man!

I hate weddings for that reason. Most of them seem to fall into a cookie cutter sequence of events and are too fancy and formal for my tastes. People think I am crazy, but I am glad at least someone thinks similarly.

My son recently Re-Wed in his backyard. (Pembroke ~ 1 acre 4 weeks ago). They rented a 20 x 40 tent and 60 chairs and a stand for the 3 some Band.
They had a Minister and they also had a photographer.
They had some deli meats etc. early, and plenty of beers.
    The ceremony was at 11:00.
They hoped for 30 people to attend and couldn't get it below 60.

Around 2P the TACO Food truck showed up and fed everyone.

It was a great and simple time had by all.

Careful what you wish for..haha. 30 was pretty cool..bought my house, got married, etc.

We ran off to Vegas, just us 2. Were going to have a cookout at her parents' house with family and close friends that summer but didn't due to her mom's health. No regrets at all, the whole wedding cost us $1000.

Honestly it should be about what the people getting married enjoy. I'm not a formal dinner kind of guy. I want to hang out with my friends and family, have a good time, and not stress out about making the day way over the top.
I mean I'm pretty much ready for the retirement home, so we'll see what happens!

That's a very attractive price point.. Just the venue is ridiculous amounts of money, but its worth it!

I'd never admit it to my wife, but I barely remember anything about my wedding (and not because of the alcohol intake). There was so much going on, too many people to see, all these events within the schedule - turn around and the day is over and all her dad's money was spent. My idea was to have a backyard ceremony and a big cookout (catered) with a more informal setting; and my wife has mentioned before it would of been nice to do something along those lines and save the money for a house down payment.

However, the wedding is kind of her day - something most girls dream about growing up and I wasn't about to take that away from her.

Thankfully, the most important thing to my fiancée is having a nice view of the mountains, preferably with fall colors. I can handle that!

Not to toot my own horn but people talked about our wedding for years. And some still do! But there have been several weddings SINCE then, so it’s kinda rude for people to be like “Oh congrats Steve…But ROB’S Wedding! Oh man!”

Short ceremony, good food, party atmosphere. Great setting (Bedford Village Inn).

We got it cheaply because we went in May 2016 to check out venues. There was a couple days available. July. September 11th. Or the next year. And a few other venues were similar, a lot of 9/11 openings……

So, we decided F it. 2 months is plenty of time! It was cool, the venue was discounted, every vendor was discounted because of how quickly it was “Hey I am available, I can do it cheap so I can make a business day!”

Our DJ made it happen. We gave him a list of the songs NOT to play. It included

    1. Any and all Journey
    2. Chicken dance/etc
    3. Lionel Ritchie OTHER THAN what we put on the play list (more on that!)

It’s been a while so there were others but I don’t recall.

When we sent out the invites (which, because of our timetable, everyone thought she was pregnant, AND they were about a week after the save the dates :D ), we put in a line for song requests. To our surprise, 50% of the requests were freakin’ Lionel Ritchie….Which, FINE, but good lord, we didn’t want 3 hours of the guy…. so we told the DJ here’s the 3 or 4 to play, otherwise, no.

He NAILED it. Party the whole time. Never missed a beat. Great time. Way bigger than we anticipated but it worked out AWESOME.

Anyway, if I had to do it again, elks lodge would be a good spot :)

Granted it was long ago, but I don't remember our wedding in great detail either...as you said so much going on. Good thing we got married at 6:00 pm, spent the morning rebuilding my rear wheel cylinders so we could leave on our honeymoon. And got towed when the fuel pump crapped out.

Edit: Don't buy a British car. Ever.

For sure! We'll get there. Just gotta make a rough plan and see where the budget needs to be. Debating between 2023 or 2024.

Maybe amend to don’t buy a British car as your primary vehicle. They’re fine a ‘fun cars’. Same with British motorcycles, especially the older ones.
