No not sure why. I would send a email to Mat support@ovtune.zendesk.com He has been responding quickly to any issues that pop up.

Its possible that 1.6.8.72922 is an update for the Pro system only.

Got a reply from Mat at ovtune. It turns out 1.6.8.65535 is the latest update. The 1.6.8.72922 link on the ovtune site only reflects the release date of the newest version. It had crossed my mind that 72922 looked like a date, but didn’t want to assume anything.

@JAL tuned my Tacoma on July 4th, since then I've put somewhere between 500 & 600 miles on it with a combination of both city and highway. The tune is great, the truck preforms so much better all the way around.

Before the tune I was averaging about 17.5 mpg, after filling up this past week for the 3rd time since the tune, I hit this mark. I am very impressed with the results of the KDMAX-Pro+XT. Thanks John.

Not to play devil's advocate, but if tunes like this can improve vague shifting, power delivery and throttle response, fuel economy AND subjective all-around drivability feel, why isn't the OEM licensing the tune and applying it to the vehicles?

What would be their hesitation to do so?

Why would they waste the time and money and effort?

The trucks sell like crazy, and the aftermarket mops up their deficiencies. They don't have to lift a finger.

That said, there's a few AT TSBs that have shift points eerily similar to OVT SPs.

    I get this question often!
Toyota should hire 4-5 of us to collaborate on the 4th Gen tune. :muscleflexing:

The MPG bump looks great! What do see as an average MPG bump now?

Also how did the truck respond on your trip? Acceleration and shifting good?

    Thanks

Does having an exhaust and intake affect this tune at all or is it better to keep everything stock with this tune?

It has little to none. The stock air box is a CAI. Cat back exhaust has only a little positive effect.
    Either way is fine.

I'm thinking the average is going to be around 20 MPG, acceleration and shifting were good, the only slight issue I noticed was while in the normal cruise control setting was when going up an incline when the truck downshifts it tends to hang in that gear after the hill is crested. A slight tap of the accelerator peddle and it shifts out, it seems that I read a few pages back about others having this issue also.

Cruise would do it in Stock configuration. It is greatly improved in tuned form, but not perfect. Mat Wilson released new cruise control SW maps so not sure if refinements are coming but it’s an area where things could still be better.
But I’m also happy at where it is in comparison to stock.

I hardly ever ran it in cruise that much before because of the downshifting so I probably didn't notice. I made an effort to use it this trip and was very pleased with the performance. It's like driving a different truck.
