Not much of a baseball fan, but I went to high school with Aaron Judge which makes it fun to watch someone you grew up with make it big. It makes it seems like they are real people after all!

I have to wonder what Farhan is saving the money for, last year was historic but it’s a little unreasonable to think it was repeatable on a shoestring and it’s not like they can’t afford it or that they’re going to reduce ticket prices because they’re saving so much. I’m also not a fan of trying to build a team by trading away the better players, that’s how losing teams stay losers.

I hope we make a bid for Ohtani. He would fill seats with the large Asian American population in SF. SF is a pitcher friendly park and he's got the lefty pop to put balls in the water. He'd be a perfect fit, save for the absolutely colossal asking price.

They're listening to offers, but I doubt they move him until next year. At this point, he's the only one filling seats while there's $70m riding the bench this year. He's made it clear that he wants to play for a contending team, so he'll get traded next year and sign for a contender willing to back up the Brinks truck during the 2023 offseason. Can't wait to see what that contract pulls.

Edit: as of the last hour, they're no longer listening to offers.

Sucks but I don’t see it happening. To sign the big names you have to overpay and we don’t do that. Those players only pass through here as trades on the last year of a contract then sign elsewhere. We got lucky with our farm system giving us talent all at once and added some mid level guys but none of the titles came from big name trades.

I don't love the Odorizzi for Will Smith trade, but that's as much a salary management issue for next year as anything. Odo was going to cost at least 7mil, whereas Smith will be off the books for 250k.

Would be absolutely hilarious if Hosmer screwed the deal since Wash is on his no-trade teams

Sounds like there's provisions for the two to still go to SD even if he doesn't waive his NTC.

Edit: Hosmer Veto'd the trade. Soto still on his way, but maybe not Bell? Starting to give me Max Scherzer vibes. lol
