So uh.. Sunday/Yesterday I made a big dummy move.. I changed the oil and got distracted by multiple other projects I was doing at the same time that day.. and forgot to pull my little plastic water bottle from the filter drain.. and drove to work yesterday.

    oi8WIZTkT8_bU-jUdu0M9H-sqZYby493kLJynMG8_4abce6623f92fe24390606b52012d9528952ec1c.jpg

About shit myself when I pulled into work and heard something ticking.. popped the hood and saw the oil. Killed the motor real quick and ran back.. starting looking for a hole.. saw the bottle. :annoyed:
Went and picked up some degreaser and used the entire bottle and washed it at the local carwash. Got it all cleaned up pretty good.. but pretty confident I'm getting belt slip now. I've never experienced belt slip before.. so I'm not 100% sure on what to look/feel/listen for. BUT.. with what it was doing pulling onto the freeway I assume that's what it is? Truck shifted into I think it was 3rd and still pulling and all of a sudden I felt what I guess would be a lack/dip in power followed by an odd scream from the blower area under the hood. I let off the throttle and rolled back into it and it was fine. I can only assume that was the belt slipping on the S/C pulley and that's what I heard and felt. Didnt get a chance to see or collect any other data. Drivability is fine otherwise.

Should I pull both belts and clean up the pullies really good.. maybe just get 2 new belts?

just seeing the photo made me almost shit myself before reading your description, even the tilt of the camera made me think you sent it too hard and broke everything.

i would probably just get new belts and wipe the old ones off and put in the overland parts bin in case of trail failure.

Oh Jesus. That's nerve wracking. I saw the post and was like oh no..

I'm glad it was just old oil.

I would definitely degrease and pressure wash the pulleys, and then from there replace the belts as the current ones have become oil contaminated.

I did degrease it really good. I think its the belts more than anything. I'll pull the belts and do another round of degreaser on the pullies themselves and install new belts. Need to replace one of the upper S/C idlers as well as its starting to squeal.

Anybody have/know the part number off the top of their head for the the idlers right under the S/C drive pulley?

what the concern with oil on belts? I wipe it off but never did a full degreaser etc and seemed to be fine. But rather not find out why.

Hmmm.. maybe I'm dumb.. that description is confusing to me. It's definitely not 3".

The upper left idler. But maybe I'll do both since they look like hell.

Oil degrades, deteriorates, and eats away at rubber. Once you've gotten oil on the belts you might as well kiss them goodbye because by the time you've realized it the rubber has already absorbed the oil.

Are they currently squealing? Whenever I get coolant on anything I just hose the affected area down with straight water and it avoids A. Coolant stains and B. potential noises to items due to them being wet with coolant.

Both of those idlers are the 6303 ones on page 1.

edit: to whoever I asked before about help putting the bearings in — the first 3 I did the freeze/heat method & they dropped right in… with the 6203 and the ribbed upper 6303 not wanting to go in after multiple tries… I tried just simply pressing them both in with a vise & rag… they both slid right in easily! Guess I was overthinking that job due to my past experiences working with crankshaft & transmission shaft bearings on motorcycles that I couldn’t get presses on !
