Have a question that doesn't quite deserve it's own thread. I have an axle housing that is starting to leak oil at the driver side spring perch. Haven't had a chance to dig into it, but feeling safe to assume that it is cracked. Looking at buying an axle housing from a junkyard and swapping the internals, is there any sort of gusseting or plating I could / should do to not have that happen again? Upgrading the axle isn't in the budget for now, btw.

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
    It's cracked.

    Read through this thread.

So you push your 1st gen offroad - what cracks next?

Several members, including myself, have run into the same thing. There's a few different ideas in there on how best to fix the issue.

Wallet can't do full retard unfortunately. Read through the thread, looks like 3" pipe works as the gusset pretty well.

Dumb question, does that pipe gusset addition change the size of u-bolts, or would the all-pro shackle flips clear?

If you're only plating the top of the tube, shouldn't affect size.
The durobumps U-bolt flip kit I got was loose-ish around the axle tube when new and tightened down so should have room even if you plated around the entire thing I'd imainge

The TRD will have a rear e-locker. I think there might be a minor modification required on a non-e-locker rear housing, but I'm not 100% sure. I see you're already upgraded with inverted U-bolts.

Just has to get the matching rear end housing for his application. 8 in e-locker vs 8.4 open housing

I currently have the 8" e-locker w/ non-abs, have found another same housing somewhat local at a junkyard for $250.
