Anyone else go to Snowshoe this past weekend for the race? Or do we not talk about downhill in here?

Downhill is not okay here. Indoor biking and diet only....

Looks rad... you race it or just spectate?

A buddy of mine raced the World Cup XC. Looks like you had drier conditions than he did.

We talk about it, but no one here does DH. I want to ride DH, just closest place is 5 hours away.

XC is for extreme cycling, because that race looked challenging and in places I may have walked my enduro bike down it.

XC racing has evolved and it's not groomed trail the whole time like some people think.

I can tell you about how many calories of beer I drank at the race... and yes just a spectator, although I ride snowshoe as much as possible. Just nowhere near what these guys do.

The rock garden covered in slick mud and lined with wet roots looked terrifying.

I hear that, closest for me is actually Snowshoe and it's 4 hours. Used to be 45 minutes but they shut it down the year before covid and I highly doubt there is any plan to reopen unfortunately

Especially at snowshoe when it rains. that entire mountain is a rock garden. I rode parts of the XC course last year on my enduro bike and I can verify that it's no joke it's legitimately part of the downhill trails open to the public.

Man I messed up and totally forgot about it…by the time I remembered it was too late logistically. I will actually plan to go next year assuming it’s there again

idk what the difference between DH and freeride is. we have some gnarly pirate trails around here. some are real rocky, some are steep, some have big jumps, some end in scree fields.

not something i like to ride alone, so i dont do it as often as id like.

Well every situation is totally different, but I had a bad shoulder dislocation, humeral head break, and labrum tear. Rehabbed a year to see if it would get back to a level I was happy with. It did not so ended up doing surgery which went really well as did recovery. Very glad I got surgery and wish I would have right away. Make sure you talk to a surgeon that really understands your priorities like being able to mountain bike, etc. If I was less active I could have lived happily without surgery, but for my lifestyle it wasn't going to cut it.
You look to be in a great riding situation. I think 30 minutes to riding is probably on the short side for the average person. I'm going to have to get in touch with you when I'm in Santa Monica next! Probably next April I think. We're talking about driving and bringing our bikes. Would love to do a ride in SoCal!

What's downhill? We only talk e bikes, politics around e bikes, and pelotón indoor bikes

No peloton here, I went Nordic Track. I don’t have the balls for downhill, although I do love romping my trail bike down a flowy, fast downhill run! The off brand mail order bike I bought actually does really well in those instances

The best part about riding a bike is burning the calories to justify a beer …

Wrapping up seven days of mountain riding during a record week long heat wave. Above 95° every day. Used 12 gallons of drinking water.

This. I'm dislike at my local bike shop because I went from never riding to straight on full suspension.

One of my favorite parts of riding bikes. Ride everywhere! I also live close to downtown so that helps. I try to run all my errands on bikes, feels very rewarding

Looked super gnarly! I stayed home and rode bikes instead lol. Six hours is a bit far for me

    Looks epic!
