Hey guys. My 09 has 175k miles. I had the coolant flushed at 100k. The coolant currently is not very coolanty. Can I simply drain it and refill myself without issue? Of course I’d use Toyota coolant.

Yes, but open the lower block drain plugs 1 each side and flush with clean water, close and refill with the pink stuff.
I too have an 09 and now at 189k flushed at 125k. Got a flush at 50k and a thermostat due to squirrels on comprehensive.
I just did a 4000 run out west with original hoses and water pump with temps up to100 running over 600 miles many days with no problems.
Coming back thru KS had a 30mph head wind so Tacoma was working hard and sucking gas down to 15 mpg at 75.
But of course every vehicle has been under different conditions so check those hoses and look in the radiator to see if clean.
A new radiator cap should be included if you haven't done ever. Pressure is marked on yours and a few pressure choices but I would match what you had with a new OEM.

How hard is it to flush compared to just drain and refill?

Just drain and refill every 60k and call it day my friend. No need to pull the drain plugs out the block.

    This.

And a 22mm 6-point socket fits on the ears of the petcock valve to help break it loose.
Hand tight closed is good enough. No need for the socket when tightening it back up.
