I know there are some longer threads on here from a few years ago but I thought I write separately just to assure folks that this is a really easy procedure, despite the scary idea of having to take the steering wheel off.

If your horn is not working, see if it works with the alarm button on the remote. If it does, it’s the clock spring in the steering wheel. By the way all my other steering wheel controls worked fine.

I went the cheap route and paid $9.99 on eBay. Part looked exactly like OEM.

    I followed this video: https://youtu.be/c_xbKtQgVwQ
which is no nonsense unlike some others I watched. There is also a good second source from a guy doing this to a Yaris, linked several times here on the forum.

You will likely not need the steering wheel puller as claimed elsewhere. Just yank on it and it will pop off. All is used was a Philips screwdriver, a 30 torx, and a 19mm socket. Plus a flathead for dealing with the two plastic clips holding the airbag connectors. Oh and a sharpie for marking the steering wheel location.

It probably took me 50 minutes but I could do it in ten the second time around.

    Hope this helps.

Btw this is what the clock spring looks like on the inside:

Great write up! Yes, I could replace the clockspring in 10 minutes next time but it took about an hour (including the reopening because I forgot the horn/cc harness) Feel awesome that the airbag light is finally off! Thank you!

This is a good write up but I strongly recommend going with oem for this part. If you get into an accident you do not want your airbags to have a problem. It’s ok to save money and go cheap with some stuff but this is not one of them. If you replace your clock spring spend the extra few dollars and stay oem.
