Dry heat, I'll complain about it but I'll push and work through it...my yard work these past few weekends for example.

But when it gets humid like it did today? Fuck that, I throw in the towel.

I'll always take cold weather, twice on Sunday.

I miss it like crazy which is why I got the A/C turned up and on everyday.

Speaking of, solar keeps the bill cheap too!

Homes starting 2020 in California are required to have solar.

Businesses too but there are some specific requirements or limitations so it's not so strict on the commercial side.

Wife pays for the solar as we do have it leased; it's just over $40/month.

I took on the electric bill as I just transferred PG&E service from my apartment to the house. Straight up thought I'd end up paying $150/mo give or take.

Nope! So I lucked out

It's just little things like this I'm able to do "meanwhile" since we've got plans today, and I'm still in school.

As I mentioned, I don't want the rear hitch flush with the bumper.

    Here's the weld-in hitch.

    20220802_150029.jpg

And the dimensions I need to cut out of the rear face. Also a bill of materials of the items I'll need for the "recess" to fill in the gaps.

Symmetry is important to me, so I'm wanting everything equally spaced.

Just plotting where my anchor points will be; you'll notice I erased some of it because I was like "oh shit the anchoring mounts will be too close together and too close to center" :anonymous:

Fuck these things are beefy as hell (just delivered).

I do wish the bevel at the base was much larger. Granted I can just hit it with a flap disc that way I can get 2 passes all the way around.

Spent a few minutes on the bumper.

Not doing any hard work on account that my back has been keeping me in bed lately :bananadead:

For starters, I finally decided to cut the rear face since I can't really move forward without doing that first. Always cut and drill any and all pieces before welding otherwise it'll be hard as fuck to get it.

    20220803_161342.jpg

Took the pieces I cut and laid them out to verify lengths.

    20220806_143204.jpg

I had marked where I planned to put the recovery point so I thought I'd look to see where that falls with the face in place.

    20220806_143645.jpg

*ignore the clamp on the clamp, heard @Wulf likes clamps *

The 5" by 6" plate clamped on the side needs to get 2 holes drilled out. Those will hold the assembly against the vehicle once the major parts are tacked together.

Only thing is I lack a drill press and still need a saw. Hand drill will have to do :bananadead:

Also tacked these small pieces from that 1" wide stock I got. They're what's going to set back the hitch from the bumper as I don't want a flush look.

The marked plate needs to have a 2 1/2" square cut out to act as the rear face behind/around the hitch.

    20220806_152636.jpg

Really, once I get the hitch welded in place I can go ahead and tack the bumper together to move forward.

It's a clamp clamping a clamp while it clamps.
