What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

It is Dynomax 39447

Did have to cut 13" off the straight pipe but otherwise it bolted right up. The only thing that kinda bugs me is that the very back of the tail pipe sits close to the rear leaf spring area... maybe an 1" apart...

Some folks seem to not like the noise but I think it sounds pretty good. Quiet at idle and cruising but a little throaty when getting on it.

 

How much that that cost you all in?

Used the Tacoma to pick up some 285/70/17 a/t tires i got off eBay for my 2001 f150 xlt fx4 with a 3 inch lift. I don’t even remember the brand they were. $850 for 4 new ones. The truck doesn’t get used much just around the yard to do work so I didn’t want to spend a lot for it to sit there. I have nitto terra grapplers on it now probably 12 years old that are dry rotting. These new ones look good though should be all I need

 

I'm typically over in the 1st gen section, but I came across this wreck today, and I wished I could salvage the suspension, so I figured I'd post it here for anyone in the Sac area. There has to be 3 good corners there, at least, but probably not 4...

Just called them. He said $500. I would buy them, but not a fan of digressive shocks.

 

Replaced the front wheel bearings. Front end is a ton quieter now. Old bearings seemed to be in decent shape but with ~140k on them they were about due for replacement.

 

You used stainless? I always thought stainless wouldn't work with magnets.

 

Depends on which grade of stainless.

Oil change
Fumoto drain valve
Coolant top off
Tire pressure check

All in preparation for a 400 mile weekend trip and all at this awesome milestone:

You are a candidate for a upscale LCA. I looked at Camburg but ordered Dirt King.

 

You made the right choice.....dirt King LCA'S are amazing.

 

Please tell us that there is at least a good story to go with this.....

So long story short. Always checked and greased the ball joint , since those have a history of failing. Never bothered to check that part. I got extremely lucky because that failed as I was backing into my garage. Mind you I just got off the freeway 2 minutes earlier.
