Maybe you are due for front shock replacement too?

I know Daystar makes these, there might be others as well.

I might go the airbag route, I'm very familiar with air suspension. One question on your setup, do you find it to be bouncy even with the bags deflated? I rode in an F-150 with air bags and they severely limited the travel of the rear suspension and it bounced horribly. Maybe that specific application was just poorly designed. Of course cradles would help too.

Just an FYI: A TSB is a Toyota Service Bulletin (correcting this, actually it's TECHNICAL service bulletin, sry). It is not a recall. A service bulletin is often to address a concern that has drawn attention to the manufacturer, but has not come to the level of needing a recall. In this case, the TSB was to address "Harsh Ride", as @maineah said. Majority of Tacoma buyers would never notice or complain, but there were enough that Toyota had a "fix" for it if a customer complained. I had my 2+1 pack removed and replaced with the TSB 3+1 leaf pack that later became standard. All you had to do was drop in to a dealership and say you were experiencing "Harsh Ride" when carrying a small load and they'd take care of it.

If you want to keep stock height, with a varying load, Airbags are the best, dare I say ONLY, way to do this. No other option is adjustable for load like an air bag. And no, I do not run air bags, I have a HD leaf pack that makes my truck have a RIDICULOUSLY high rear end when unloaded. Definitely not what you are going for!

Very good information for Tacoma owners who are not happy with the current condition of their stock leaf springs or ride. I had mine done at no cost to me under the "TSB" you mention here. Why spend the money out of pocket if one doesn't have to? Have it done...if you still don't like the ride, then spend the money!

If you want to keep it stock height and dont like sagging when you haul stuff around, get air bags. Dobinson makes a good leaf spring to give you minimum lift in the rear, but your still going to sag no matter what.
you can keep your stock springs and just use your air bags to keep the stock look when having weight in the rear

Are you certain the dealer will do this to all 2nd gens? I thought it was only for specific years or specific VIN's only?

Depends on what leaf pack your rig came with. Two plus overload, or three plus overload. I see you have a 2012, that should have been the year all of the Taco's started coming with the 3+1 packs. Either way, I'm pretty sure this expired already, so wouldn't be helpful nowadays.
