i'd take a Rivian right now if the bed was sized for reality and they tacked on an extra 100 miles of range. :)

all i do is kayak fish these days anyways.

I'm definitely the guy that has a truck who doesnt tow currently. I had an F250 for a long time that I used for towing and hauling and used a little car for everything else. I got rid of both because I didnt need to tow anymore and consolidated into the tacoma, its been our faithful multi-purpose truck for many years.

The condundrum I am in now is I need a tow-rig for my Jeep. the problem is the tow rig would only really be used for the Jeep so it would just be sitting around most of the time which seems like a waste, so we were like ok maybe sell the Tacoma and get a tow rig but the tow rig would still be either sitting around or not towing most of the time.

So I am definitely a dude with too many vehicles

Do you normally throw your kayak in the bed? You could just as easily put it on top. The “Max Pack” battery coming early next year should add about 100 miles of range, and of course additional cost.

Yeah. The max pack is a mere $16K more. What a bargain.
I used to really like the Rivian and wanted to get one. Now it really does seem like a joke as I do more research on it. I’ll honestly be surprised if they survive as a company once the big manufacturers start rolling out their EV trucks.

Wow what a great deal. You’ve really hit the Rivian kool-aid hard.

The truck seems a bit Boutique for me. The idea of spending 100k on a truck with its limitations (inherent in all EV's) just does appeal to me personally.

Ive been to Portland and i know thats what appeals to most in that area.

Now you’re at $105K with the max battery. What can this truck really do that our Tacoma’s can’t? I really don’t see much benefit other than secure storage in the frunk and the storage tunnel. Although I think the tunnel may actually steal some room from the bed and under/behind seats like a Tacoma.
It’s cheaper just to buy a Tacoma and another SUV to use when it’s raining to keep your gear dry. :D

I’m sure Toyota will be giving away electric Tacomas.

Do you not understand that they have been taking preorders for years? No one is paying $105K for a truck they preordered.
Sounds like you were never their customer.

A week doesnt tell the whole story (you know this, why would you try to frame it so disingenuously) Lots of bag holders at +100 /share

Obviously a week doesn’t tell the whole story, it’s a snap shot of what is happening now. The idea that layoffs last week mean a company is doomed doesn’t take into account that that company may be doing it for other reasons, like showing more profitability.

Showing more profitability by manipulating overhead? I dont think that makes it better. Infact thats the sign of a dying company. Parlor tricks

This is the spin they are going with:

“This decision will help align our workforce to our key business priorities, including ramping up the consumer and commercial vehicle programs, accelerating the development of R2 and other future models, deploying our go-to-market programs and optimizing spend across the business,” according to news organizations citing a company statement.

We will. Keep in mind that Tesla delivered their first vehicle (not an electric Lotus with a Tesla badge) the Model S in 2012 and had their first profitable year in 2020.

Do you not understand that they have increased their price? They do plan on selling to people other than those with preorders eventually.
