Okay so the other day I was cleaning out my taco and I was messing around with the engine compartment fuse box my low beam light fuse was blown so I fixed that. Mind you I've been out of AC for about 3 months now so the main reason I'm in the fuse box so many times in the last 3 months is because I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my AC, in which case I actually fixed it same day by moving a wire around underneath the fan under the passenger airbag compartment, also my gas gauge stays on empty so I've been trying to figure out if there's a fuse problem with that. That being said I'm back in the fuse box still messing around and I see the short pin. Now I have no clue at this point as to what this thing does. I see thato it doesn't have a gauging on it so I don't even worry about putting it back in. So I'm driving during the day 4or 5 hours later, I'm parked at the mall my subs are on full blast and I hear the engine putt putt putt, so I turn the key in the ignition to off, pull the key out, and I noticed wait a minute the radio still on the lights are still on AC is still on and I don't know what the hell to do. So all the ACC, lights, sub, radio all stay on now when the short pin is in. Now when the short pin is out, everything is back to normal, super weird. Now I cleaned off the posts on the short pin, and put it back in, also mind you that there is nothing wrong with the short pin physically just the fact that the posts were a little dirty in which case I cleaned.

Sounds like you may have multiple issues, do you have any aftermarket remote start or alarm systems installed? If you do I'd start looking there.

The short pin is there to prevent battery drain on cars that are in storage/not being used/new.

During a PDI (pre-delivery inspection) we install the short pin and then check the rest of the car. They are called different things by different manufacturers and some cars don't have them.

As suggested above you could have an issue with the Body ECU...

Yeah and now my transmission is out, every gear is reverse. Then I go to turn it on again and absolutely nothing at all happens.

Most likely the connector and/or the resistor are about to melt away. (if not already there, held by melted/burnt plastic)
