Yes, and they have sold to people at those inflated prices that wanted to jump the line. Do you not understand that the R2 line is lower cost and may target those customers that can’t purchase the R1 line?

 

I understand that, but to expect Rivian to be in a similar spot as Tesla financially is completely unrealistic.

 

I wonder how much cheaper they could have sold the truck if they didn’t add all the gimmicky things like the flash light that pops out of the door, the removable speaker, carabiner key fob, etc.

 

My wife and I considered the Rivian R1S which at the time I don't recall if the R1T was available for preorder. Anyways it was about $70k and since then the price has gone up exponentially. You keep saying people aren't paying these prices but they are, there was no special pre order pricing when we reserved the R1S and there isnt now for the R1T

 

The R2 line doesn’t even exist yet. I don’t even know if there is even a concept for it yet.

 

Neither does an electric Tacoma or hybrid Tacoma, does that mean it will never happen?

 

I imagine price was pretty far down on their list. They know that these electric trucks are novel luxury items that nobody really cares for at this point

If you placed your $1000 preorder with Rivian prior to March 1, 2022 you got the “special” pricing (aka non inflated pricing). I’m not sure what you did. “Exponentially” does not mean what you think it does. There was one price increase.

That was done for the gimic of having 7777 cells on the vehicle. 7776 in the battery pack and one in the flashlight.

 

It was about a 20% price difference, seems pretty exponential. but this was from 2019

Toyota doesnt do pre orders, they have the capital and income to actually build cars.
