I'm having the exact same problem with my 22 TRD Off Road. Sometimes people can't hear me talking at all but I can still hear them. I wonder if it's the mic above your head in the roof. Any thoughts on THAT being the problem?

I have a 2021 Tacoma SR5. Have had issues with phone calls since I bought it. Calls fade in and out and a buzzing noise when i talk. Very frustrating. I’ve tried other phones in the truck as well and same issue. I’ve used my phone to make phone calls ilfrom my spouses car and there are no issues so that tells me it’s not my phone. I’m taking back to the dealership this week for the 2nd time. They say they have never heard of this issue but there are literally hundreds of threads from people that are having the same issue. I’ve change phone cable and every other fix I have found online. Hopefully I can get an answer about what they are going to do to fix it this week.

Just took Tacoma to my second dealership visit for this issue. They’re telling me it’s the voice speakers and they are going to replace. We’ll see

Did replacing the voice mic help? Im taking my 2022 Tacoma with only 200 miles on it in to the dealership this Friday for the buzzing noise that people on the other end of my calls can hear.

Welcome to getting ripped off with Toyota audio. After numerous warranty attempts they simply told me “Toyota is not known for good audio” and gave me a free car wash.

Awesome, I'm sure everyone here is waiting to know if that fixes it. Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Well of course when I got to the dealership today the buzzing noise was no longer there. The tech drove it around the parking with his phone connected to the truck talking to me on my cell phone and it sounded just fine. He tried both apple car play and bluetooth. My wife says she can still hear it when I call her. Maybe she just doesn't want to talk to me on the phone.

I'm having this same issue on my 21. I haven't found a fix and neither has the dealer. It isn't as bad when I'm on Bluetooth though,

Any update on the mic replacement fixing the issue?

I have been to the dealer Numerous times to fix the buzzing issue to no avail. Just got my radio replaced by dealer today and same buzzing noise. Last thought Service reps had today was Microphone above head being replaced.

The horrible mic issue has happened to me a few times but the infotainment system has been glitchy since I’ve bought the truck. Super annoying. I keep the earbuds that came with my iPhone in the truck whenever I need them. It’s an inconvenience having to do that but meh not a big deal. Eventually I’m replacing all that junk.

I have a 22 Tacoma that I have had this issue since the day I got it! So far the dealer has replaced the Mic, the head unit, and now on order is a DCM. So far nothing has fixed the issue and I know not everyone feels the same but after spending the higher end of 40K for a truck I expect to be able to make and receive phone calls legally (My state is a hands free state) without using a secondary device to take calls on. It will keep going back until they fix this issue or buy it back one. I have also emailed corporate because of this issue.

That’s pretty much Toyota Audio by Design.

I took mine into the dealer for an oil change and asked them to look into this buzzing sound. I'll report back what they say.

Dealer heard the buzzing during a call. They said Toyota is aware of this issue and that there is no complete fix for it at the moment. The dealer said Toyota gave me some kind of code to input into the radio which supposedly helps with the buzzing. The dealer tested it after applying the code and said it was improved, but not 100% removed yet. They said they documented it into the database and to hold tight until Toyota finally figures out a complete fix.

Note: I have not had a chance to test any calls yet to see if the code helped or not. I will report back once I do.
