LOL, I was thinking about mounting a removable speaker in my truck bed. It wouldn't be there full time but at special events or camping. I have an spod in the cab. Any suggestions for a speaker that has good bass and that is not over the top expensive. And doesn't have to be permanently mounted? TIA

No doubt everybody like to listen to whatever you listen to wether they want to listen to it or not? Don't be THAT person. Buy a set of AirPods so other dune visitors don't want to kill you or your music.

Speaking from experience, A large Bluetooth speaker is the best option

Grab two JBL Partybox 310 and you won’t look back

Anything you’re picturing in your mind will cost significantly more and sound way worse, and require a generator to keep your truck battery alive. Wakeboard tower speakers can get loud but they have no bass, are very directional, and need a huge amp. Since they have no bass, you also need a sub that will also need a huge amp. Then you have to get all that wired up inside the truck somehow. And two big amps will drain your battery very fast.

get the JBL speakers, pair them together, and thank me later

Yeah those setups just aren’t worth it unless you’re just trying to blow cash.

and going the BT speaker route, you can use them for all sorts of stuff.
    Backyard bbq? Covered.
Going to a cookout? I’ve got the music!
Friend is having a cheap wedding? I’ll bring the sound system

Please please please don't be this person. Came across all sorts of them at South Padre Island. I don't go camping to listen to your tasty jahms.... if I wanted to listen to your tasty jahms on the spotify or the pandora I would be your friend and would hang out with you. I don't, so I'm not.

I recommend this fine piece of equipment...

What will be your music source? If you're using your phone, you should be fine with a bluetooth speaker. However, afaik, all in-dash head units are bluetooth receive only, they don't transmit.

LOL at all the people telling you to just get headphones/ear buds. " I don't wanna hear your dang music and see you and all your friends having a good time! Why aren't you a loner like me? Then you would only need earbuds! " It's like they can't even fathom the fact you would be with multiple people that also want to jam out and have a good time. Get the JBL Partybox 310 and call it a day.

50 pounds each. You'll want a few. And you will probably be the first to install a line array in a pickup :)

You may want another pickup for the sub :bananadance:

I was in a restaurant last night for dinner. 6 guys came in after work and talked so loudly that the wait staff had to shout over them.
Don't be that guy. Just because you can doesn't mean anyone else needs to know about it.

Everyone jumps to the conclusion OP is turning the place into a rave. There is such a thing called volume control and maybe OP knows what that is and just wants to listen to some Bach while dining under the stars with friends.
