So, today, I tossed in a new battery for the remote and cleaned the circuit board.

Rear passenger side door locks and unlocks with the remote.

    Weird.

    Tell me about it. Wild.

Spent some time measuring out the tailgate panel for the truck and even more time finding a vendor that could cut a sheet to fit the measurements and wasn't going to charge $100 for shipping plastic.

Going from a steel panel to ABS to save weight. Originally, the steel panel was for when I needed to fit the motorcycle in the bed. Not going to be using the truck for that ever so it's time for a change.

Placed the order for the ABS tonight.

    Slowly checking off the list.

Going to see how the ABS works out. Excited to have a flat surface, lighter tailgate and for $50 shipped, it's cheaper than a mountain hatch or something similar.

Aluminum will be a backup and probably a happy medium.

I think I figured out what's up with the rear passenger door lock.

It works just fine when the truck is running but it's hit or miss otherwise. When I cleaned the remote and installed a new remote battery, it worked fine with the truck off. I think I'll have to eventually replace that motor:

    20mm FLAT shaft
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/111182112752?LH_BIN=1

Picked up some 5/16 tubing for the oil filter bracket drain at the store today that I'll install next oil change. HDPE sheet arrives Tuesday. Aiming for the weekend to trace it, cut it, etc. We'll see. Gonna be a busy weekend already.

Placed the order for that motor. Bought 2 in case.

Anyone have recommendations on decently priced sound deadening kits?

    I was eyeing this:

    https://www.b-quiet.com/products/b-quiet-ultimate-50-sound-deadener

Hoping to do the doors; especially since I have to open one up for that motor. Figured two birds. Hoping to do at least the doors and the floor. Eventually the headliner too. Not as confident dropping that by myself. My brother's doing his so I might lend a hand and see how it goes.

I thought Noico or Kilmat were the go-to brands.

Late to the party, but I've now replaced 3 out of 4 door lock actuators. I think they just reach end of life after some years. Mine have all died in the winter, so not sure if that's a coincidence. They were hit or miss, kinda like you described, until they finally let out

I'm lazy, so I just order the whole actuator from a guy ActuatorPlus on ebay that rebuilds the Toyota actuators. I tell myself I'm going to sound deaden the next one each time, but haven't pulled the trigger lol

Not sure which door yours is on, but they've all been a tad different in my experience. All relatively harmless, but the driver front one was particularly troubling until I realized that the lock cylinder came out, which made it a lot easier.

Edit: I see rear passenger. The rear ones are easy peasy to get the actuator out, at least on the 4runner. I imagine they're similar on the Tacoma too

Edit 2: whoopsie it's been a week, so maybe you've already got this one in the bag

Supplies for the sound deadening ordered!

A few hot weeks into the upper 90's and 100's made attempting to do anything outside unbearable. I went with 80mil on the inside of the door and 50mil behind the door cards. Doors only for now. Thinking I will drop the headliner sometime in the fall; maybe.

Between the house and the truck, there will be plenty to do..

Supplies arrived. Just need the time. Hopefully coming soon. Have been busy with home projects and traveling. Hope to tackle a little bit at a time; start with the rear doors and move to the fronts.

    Reasons to laugh today..

Toyota charges $350 to change spark plugs.

    Happy Thursday y'all.
