You would get along great with my 13 year old daughter. She says that kind of stuff to me all the time.

I'm starting to figure so many have become brainwashed on this video, they can't think for themselves anymore.

He did. You just had to type in 8 words into the search bar if you are interested in the Also no she takes after me as I’m also to lazy to type 8 words into the search bar. I just don’t complain about it.

It’s always going. When this thread dies someone will start another one and all of us that committed here will say the exact same thing there. Forever.
    yeah. That’s why I didn’t watch it.

Well to be completely honest I wouldn’t have clicked on it anyway. Nothing in these threads is going to change my oci. Not at my age I just can’t ever seem to resist oil fight. It’s like watching a fat guy slip with a bag of groceries. You don’t feel good about yourself but you can’t help but to watch and giggle.

Most of the newer trucks use low tension rings. This is why 10k OCI can do harm.

I know all about the low tension rings toyota uses in their engines, believe our prius has been the same using 0w-20 synthetic motor oil. It been changed every 10k or so also by the dealer, or the napa shop. Got over 100k on it currently, no oil consumption of any sort yet. Car runs amazingly well for what it is.

10-12k oil changes for me. Because I put on nearly 30k miles a year. Maybe around 5k is OR. Lots of highway miles. When I change the oil, it’s not really that dirty. I use my truck, not just let it sit in the driveway to look pretty. (Pavement princess is ok though haha)

but off roading means more dirt in the air, and more impurity after combustion, and oil gets dirtier quicker, so even if you do a lot of highway, it's still severe duty though, no?

If manual requirement is what you are going by, than no, the manual calls out spending the majority(51%) of your driving time under the condition. Its in the footnotes at the bottom of the page, the occasional weekend offroading, being stuck in traffic once and a while, or towing a few times a year really don't count as severe duty.

ive been doing the 10k oil changes and am at 60k miles now. would switching now to 5k still benefit me and do you think that doing the 10k up to 60 created any real issues?

I’d try a 5k change and send off a sample to Blackstone.

Out of curiosity, what oil and filter are you using?
