Best sourced bourbon I've tried yet. MGP makes it, but those boys in Vegas twiddle it up something right before it goes in the bottle.

 

Nice! I need to keep on the lookout for those tasters. Have not run into that yet. Maybe not looking hard enough

 

This was regarding my post for Compass Box Orchard House. After opening it and having a glass each night for a few days I left it alone for a week or so. Just went back to it last night, and wow, what a change. I'd amend my statement before and say maybe it's not for you, as there is a sweetness to it now that wasn't there before. The apple and I don't know what else... pear?... really opened up with some air time. Also, surprisingly, a hint of smoke on the back. I don't like peaty Islays, but this was just the right amount. I'm really digging it and will go back for a bottle or two when I can. For me, it's a steal at $48 +/-.

Thirsty Thursday

 

I think I ruined it by starting off my Islay experience with Lagavulin 16. It tasted (I imagine) like bandaids steeped in iodine with road tar mixed in. Truly awful. Bad bottle, or do people like that taste profile?

 

Ive heard people *love* Lagavulin 16. Laphroaig 10 is probably a better place to start.

I've found scotch drinkers tend to go fruit or peat. I weirdly enjoy both, depends on the mood.

That Turkey Funk has a tart note in the palate and on the finish that I can't get anywhere else and man it just hits.

 

First sip tonight.

 

Good bourbon for the price. Reminds me of Smooth Ambler Contradiction.

 

Round 2 tonite is the omnipresent bison.

 

Gave up on BT when was hard to find around here. Gotta go back to it since some of my favs are getting above what I like to pay.
