45 miles on the guess-o-meter, usually am under that. Overnight charge always fills it up even on L1 (120v) charging. With a L2 charger 'full tank' is 4 hours? I mean on a road trip I just use the gas nozzle like all y'all.

If they shift final assembly to the US the credits should stay (assuming US made battery too) (assuming the new bill passes).

What I'm really hoping for is a Highlander Prime. We have the new Nissan Pathfinder right now, but a Highlander PHEV would be great for medium size families

Saving money is always a good thing. All models of Rav4s seem to sell.

Even with the possibility of a tax credit. Which I think has expired for Toyota, an EV or hybrid isn't always the most economical choice.

Those Primes were even selling way over sticker.

This is lie! Per this thread only EVs catch on fire.

Are you saving money though? Base model R4 is roughly $13,500 cheaper than the R4Prime. Would take me 7.5 years for it even out, and by then would trade in for a another vehicle.

Not sure you can compare a stock to a built truck. Has anyone with $$ built a Rivian yet? Nothing I have seen. Lots of custom work for sure but would be interested to see how much more you can push something like that.

Not yet, but when they do…sure they‘ll complain about how it killed their range. Not unlike the modders on here do. Bolt a bunch of bullshit on their rigs, and yet can’t figure out why their mileage takes a nose dive…

That’s the problem with all of these EVs and even hybrids. The initial cost is so much higher than a comparable ice vehicle that it doesn’t make financial sense even if with the tax credit.

If the government really wants everyone to give up gas then they should be giving even bigger credits.

Gasoline has had some issues to work out as well like GM placing gas tanks inside the cab of their trucks and I believe Ford had a similar but slightly different issue that inevitably burned a few people alive.

EVs have been a luxury item until vary recently. More and more are coming to the market and are being priced much closer to their ICE counterparts. A great example is the Lighting Pro model. When compared to a similar XL it's actually cheaper and has more features.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a good example. Sure, the looks are polarizing.

There's also the fact people don't know what they are looking at. I ended up buying a corolla after looking at a few EVs. I didn't wanna spend Tesla money, so I looked at inexpensive alternatives like (used these were very cheap at the time) Nissan and BMW. I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out the differences.

The main takeaway I found is that a lot of information is hard to come buy, like is the battery adequately cooled. The Leaf especially had short lived batteries because they made no effort to cool them. Which is kinda sorta like buying an ICE without radiator. I never did find much on the beamer i3

Yep. Have been saying that for awhile. If they really want to save the planet…should be a hell of a lot cheaper to get everyone on board. Why I think it really isn’t about climate change like they say it is.

Like LED lightbulbs, cost 5 times + as much…and don’t really save you any money on the power bill. I went all LED in our house, that note on the box saying that they will last 22 years is bullshit. We get about a year out of them…have being going back to incandescents as they burn out.

True. Been wrestling with that same thought. We have an R1S on order for the wife. It will wheel better than my Tacoma/Land Cruiser. It will be WAY faster than my Z. It will seat 7 people. So why have the extra vehicles?
