Hey I run Cooper ST Maxx in 255/80/17. They’re a great tire. Yes you do have to do the pinch weld mod, but it’s pretty easy to do. Also I’m on stock gears and I don’t feel slower. Came from 31 inch K Bros and the Coops are actually lighter funny enough
Definitely recommend them, plus 33s look cool :D

Started doing a tire comparison chart because I'm shopping for 35's, I wanted to be able to compare tire size vs weight.

    Any that I'm missing?

Colors are for me; I have blue and considering the greens.

Falken wildpeaks in a 255 80 17. I thought there was a similar chart in this thread already.

If anyone is looking for 255 falken wildpeaks Amazon has the best price I've seen around. $235/tire free shipping. Everywhere else is $280 that I've seen.

Nice find. I’ve never bought tires from anywhere besides discount tire. Where do y’all get them mounted and how much does it cost?

just called discount tire and they will beat the price (I was quoted $220 per tire). For a total of $1581 it’s with hazard certs for 5 tires. Can’t beet that with a stick

I am gen 1, my preference is 215 85 16". I run them on stock wheels and have zero problem running 4 tire chains without spacers. Toyo m-55 is my go to tire. They are really made for dually trucks and are high mile tires. I hate flats. A couple thoughts, 1) wide tires when you hit something on outside of tire it can be mechanical advantage towards damaging axles. I guess like a fulcrum? 2) harder to fit into some places. I also use 235 85 16" for summer. I'm in high desert country most always. My 215s don't look as good and probably only 30.5" tall but works for what I do. I like looks of bigger tires though.

I'm having a local shop mount them. I wish I had a discount tire around. The shop quoted $360 for mounting and balancing of 5, and an alignment. Kind of expensive due to the spc's I have.

That’s doesn’t seem too bad with an alignment included.

anyone have experience painting wheels? Should I do it before or after the tires go on? Thinking after so they don’t get chipped right away, but that is considerably harder since they will be harder to move around and tape off. Thoughts or experience?

Before. Much easier to paint with no tire.

Painted mine after they were mounted. No problems at all. Had a piece of cardboard cut to fit just outside of rim.
My color choice was gunmetal bronze, so any that got on the tire doesn't really show, unless you look for it.

30 plus years ago I worked for a tire company and if we couldn’t balance a tire and wheel with three weights. We were required to break it back down and turn the tire and reinflate and rebalance. I agree sometimes this took 2-3 attempts but no tire and wheel went out the door without at least attempting to minimize the weights. Just saying after I saw your wheel. Might be better off taking all the weights off and throwing a couple hands full of sand inside the tire. My 2 cents!
